Very nice hazy yellow pour with good head and good lacing.
Possible strong pineapple aromas, and orange notes.
Above average orange tastes.
Feels thick in the mouth.
Overall above average beer, but it does not deserve to be rated as a world class beer.

Pours golden, hazier than other west coast IPAs. Some white grape on the nose. It's got lip smacking hop character. Really interested in having the McIlhenny version of this.

Hazy medium gold pour, solid finger of just off white foam that resembles meringue. Nose shows light tropical.
Taste brings creamy mango, pineapple, maybe some white grape, Meyer lemon, llght kilned malt, a berry note, spicy rye lurking in there too. Creamy mouthfeel, just over medium. Finish is a symphony of all the above with a lemony resin as the last flourish, warm but not bitter. Tingles the tongue.
So many layers here. Well crafted, enjoyable brew.

Interesting beer. West coast IPA with some hazy IPA characteristics.
Lots of citrus and fruit on the nose and taste.
Some spice and bread flavors, probably from the rye malt.
Not much hop bitterness.
It’s an idiosyncratic IPA, but overall it works. Very enjoyable beer.

This is my favorite IPA. There are many highly rated IPAs that I have never tasted and that is why I did not give this one 5s across the board--I wanted to leave room for other beers I may try in the future. The cloudy look of this IPA is intentional and has an evenly distributed character to it, rather than larger floating particles that sometimes put me off in other beers. The lacing on the glass has staying power, though perhaps not quite as much as some other IPAs. The smell is hoppy and without an overpowering smell of alcohol, which is great. The taste is the best that I've had among IPAs. The feel in the mouth is satisfying. Good stuff. This is my goto IPA these days.

After having this a few times I gotta admit I don’t get the world class rating here. It’s inoffensive but very light on flavor and bitterness. No pine. No dank. Maybe this hop is just not my cup of tea.

This beer has an unusual fruity aroma. It's a cloudy, straw-colored IPA with a creamy white head. Many hop varieties conceal its power -- an ABV of 7%. In fact, it's quite a hop bomb. I bought this because the big wine shop claimed this has a 99 rating from right here, so Alpine Nelson IPA exemplifies what an American IPA should be. I've never seen a 99-rated beer in person before.
The mouthfeel is substantial but it fades leaving a residual sweetness with orange or tangerine notes.
There's too much going on here to give a full review on just one tasting of this important IPA. It is is a complex beer and difficult to review.
Note: my original review was vaporized, I guess by waiting too long to hit Submit. Too bad.

Costco 24-pack. The can says best by 07/01/24, consumed on 4/15/24 (review from notes).
A&S: The appearance, surprisingly, has hazy IPA vibes. Some white lacing clings to the glass. The aroma contains lemon zest, pineapple, candied fruit, and floral notes. The aroma is very strong initially but settles down a little.
T&M: The taste contains tropical fruits, clementines, floral hops, grassy tones, and grapes. Light-bready tones (I'm guessing this is the European rye), leading to a balanced beer, without having an overpowering malty profile. Not bitter, especially for a West Coast IPA, almost mouthwatering. The finish contains a sweet pine taste. Carbonation is a little bit sharp and the body is lighter than I would expect. But these features make this beer very drinkable.
Overall: This is my favorite Alpine beer. Similar to Duet, I had this one back in CO. But unlike Duet, this beer was so much better fresh. It is an instant classic, so freaking good, especially for the price point.

Poured from a 12 ounce can dated 10-31-23 into a tulip glass at 52 degrees.
Look- Pale straw, very hazy, opaque, no visible particulate, white creamy head, slightly above average head retention and lacing.
Smell- Passionfruit, white grape, clementine, pith, medium strength of scent.
Taste- Clementine, pith, passionfruit, white grape, between medium and high strength of flavor.
Feel- Full body, average carbonation, moderately bitter, highly creamy, mildly dry finish, very low astringency.
Overall- Had not seen this beer in the area in quite some time. This one had great appearance. The bouquet was very pleasant and would have been next level if it had been slightly stronger. Flavors and feel were both really good. This beer was very pleasurable to drink and when you factor in the great price for a six pack it is hard to beat.

Such a tasty beer. A 6-pack for $9.99 is a steal IMO. Love the characteristic Nelson love bite on the tongue. Piney but not full-on resinous. Great, long flavor, with a nice tickle in the roof of the mouth that lasts for a bit longer than expected. First-class IPA, would be one of the first I hit upon opening the community ice chest.
