12oz bottle into a pint glass. best by 9/15/17, so guessing about 6 weeks old.

nice golden yellow body. however, the head disappears very quickly, leaving a faint ring and covering. a little agitating returns a good head, but only for a short while.

faintly pine aroma, but a more pronounced somewhat funky aroma as well. uh oh.

Thankfully none of the above has an impact on the taste, which is very good indeed. strong sharp, tangy piney bitterness. malt background can be felt.

around medium on the mouth. faintly sweet, bitter and sour on the finish.

overall, a tasty bitter, resiny ipa. appearance and aroma may be a bit sub par, but it cetainly makes up for it in the taste department.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Best before May 20/2017.
Lots of reviews already done on this one. I was lucky to pick up a few in Canada.
A wonderful hoppy IPA right up there with the best.

12 oz. Bottle

Pours a pretty nice clean/clear golden orangy color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, with some nice citrus notes. The taste is really nice, hoppy, citrusy. Medium body. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

It pours medium hazy amber (SRM 8) producing a 1/2" off-white foam cap with moderate retention. Continuous streams of bubles rise from the bottom of the glass. Big tropical fruit aromas of guava, orange and passion fruit greet the nose. Fruit over bread crumb starts the palate with bitterness advancing in from the sides. Alcohol flavors are low and alcohol warming is minimal. Hoppy birthday has a clean fermentation character with the hops producing most of the fruit flavors. The malt character is slightly less than medium and the malt sweetness is medium. Hop flavors are medium to medium high and hop bitterness is medium high. Hoppy birthday has a medium body and medium carbonation. This is a very flavorful and easy to drink beer that is not over alcoholic. The big hop flavors and bitterness are especially appreciated

Pours a bubbly gold color with a small white head. The smell is intensely hoppy, and the taste essentially stays the same as the scent. There's so piney and citrus undertones to the flavor, as well.

L- Pours somewhat of a translucent gold color with sticky lacing but not much of a head.

S- I'm picking up pine, citrus, and delicious hops. The big 3 of any good pale ale.

T- You can tell right off the bat that it's dry hopped. At the onset you get the taste of bitter hops that is mellowed out by the notes of pine and citrus rind at the tail end, the citrus rind being that of orange and grapefruit. It's really a zesty brew. I'm really digging it, though I am a West Coast rookie.

F- I feel like I could drink this all day, so I'd say this is a very sessionable beer. I would prefer this over many other low ABV beers. Yeah, screw you AB-INBEV.

O- Overall, I have really enjoyed my second West Coast brew. It is all I could want in a hoppy beer, but I could enjoy more than a couple of them at a day on the lake or at the beach which is cool because I tend to get my hop fix from DIPAs. In a couple of months it'll definitely be Hoppy Birthday to me.

Pours dirty golden in body with frothy white head on top. Strong aroma of pine, citrus rind, lemon, mint. Tastes of pine, citrus rind, some sizable bitterness, lemon, and grass. Dry mouthfeel. Light in body with medium carbonation. The body is probably too light to carry such a hop wallop but it is still good.

Appearance: Pours slightly hazy and honey colored with a one inch cap; splashy lacing abounds

Smell: From the moment the cap is popped, the bright aromatics burst forth, bringing tropical fruit tones of papaya, guava, custard apple and citrus rind

Taste: Juicy from the outset, with the subtle tropical fruit elements of papaya, guava and custard apple forward; a touch of citrus rind bitterness builds, through the middle, but fades in the finish as the juicier elements re-emerge

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A little high in ABV to be a true session ale, this is still a nice, quaffable beverage
