On tap at O'Brien's. Pint glass.
A: Pours red-tinted golden color with a finger of off-white, beautiful head, swaths of lacing, superb clarity. Very good retention.
S: The nose is somewhat faint, unfortunately, but you get the breadiness and juicy citrus (grapefruit, orange) and some bright amber malt.
T: The highlight of the taste is the really good balance between the bread/spice and citrus/pine. Citrus imparts nice brightness, and the bitterness on the finish is very subtle.
M: Smooth yet crisp, medium body, light carbonation.
O: Not at all what I was expecting. This is a tasty, lighter beer that reminds me more of an ESB than amber (due to malt profile). Really drinkable.

On tap at the brewpub in Alpine.
Appearance: Clear red-amber with a durable bone-colored head that leaves a fairly full coating on the glass.
Aroma: Hops (mainly herbal).
Flavor: sweet up front and only modearate bitterness at its peak. Obvious sweet malts balancing a relatively high hop load. The hop flavor builds over time peaking in the aftertaste. Very malty for APA style.
Feel: Light-medium body with near medium carbonation.
O: a bold and hoppy red ale. Recommended.
