Brewed for the 2010 World Cup.
Poured from a growler filled at the brewery on July 3, 2010. Consumed on the 4th of July!
This is one of the best looking beers I've ever seen! Deep red with a brown/amber twist! There's a nice frothy white head that quickly recedes leaving good lace and bubbles sticking to the glass. A white foam covers the top of my brew the entire time.
Smells of huge fresh barley with a good hop presence. The hops have an instant floral hit, but subside to a beautiful pine aroma. The combination of the hops and malts is absolutely beautiful! There are hints of caramel, but they are subtle.
The hops aren't overwhelming in the mouth and they don't over power the malts. One of the most well balanced, if not the best balanced beer I've ever had. There's a perfect amount of bitterness to offset the taste of grains. Everything about an irish red is present here, with a bigger hop profile.
Unfortunately I don't remember the ABV on this, but it's very drinkable and I feel would go very well with BBQ. Perfect 4th of July beer!!

On tap at the brewpub in Alpine.
Appearance: Clear red-amber with a durable bone-colored head that leaves a fairly full coating on the glass.
Aroma: Hops (mainly herbal).
Flavor: sweet up front and only modearate bitterness at its peak. Obvious sweet malts balancing a relatively high hop load. The hop flavor builds over time peaking in the aftertaste. Very malty for APA style.
Feel: Light-medium body with near medium carbonation.
O: a bold and hoppy red ale. Recommended.
