Notes / Commercial Description:
So mega-hopped it will take you to hop heaven. We’ve used hops in the boil, more hops in the giant hopback, and added to that, an incredible amount of dry-hopping for that cutting-edge “hop bite.” Once you’ve tasted this unique beer, all others pale in comparison. 1.072 OG Classified IBU

Draft. Lovely floral and caramel aroma. Deep amber color with light head. Rich flavor with a hint of the caramel, loads of hops, and a fair amount of alcohol heat. Alcohol and hops linger on the finish. Tasty, but be prepared for the kick.

Lucky find as a single at WFM in NJ. Worth it. My first Alpine. Try 24.

A. The beer is a cloudy, sediment laden orange body with a 1 finger dense-white head that fades slowly and leaves a trickley lace on the glass. Poured into Duvel Tulip - my fave glass.

S: The aroma bursts with piney, grassy hops with compliment of citrus sweetness.

T: Follows smell. The taste is dominated by abundant, nuanced piney, grassy, and bitter flavors of hops, but the hops are complimented by citrus sweetness and a malt backbone. Above all is the fresh juiciness, and abundance of the hops and then how it's well-balanced blend of hops bitterness, pepper, with citric sweetness.

M: Juicy, fresh, smooth and crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, clean finish.

O: This gets better as it warms and the further you go down the glass.
Hard to follow. World Class. I bought one, you go buy 24!

I had a nice draft of this at a local excellent beer bar. It is a little boozy (as expected with the abv), but the taste is very good. I like the hop profile.

Had on draft. Dark straw, crystal clear with one finger white head that laced well. Scent of pine and citrus though scent was light. Flavor was very bitter pines with citrus after taste. Perfectly carbonated, clean crisp finish.

Honestly a little disappointed with this beer. My first exposure to Alpine was Duet, which I think is fantastic. So I expected their IIPA to be really strong, but I found it to be solid but unspectacular. Look is wonderful, golden auburn with a thick, white head that laces beautifully. Smell is rich and complex, with pine resin and citrus, yeasty biscuit, dank and herbal, little onion on the back end. Taste is the disappointment. Mostly one note: bitter and piney. Certainly some sweet malt balancing things out, but a good IIPA from a good brewer should have a layered set of flavors to roll through, and I'm just not picking them up. Feel is medium-heavy and sticky, which I like. The carbonation is there but the heft of the mouthfeel is what I note most after each sip. No question this is a good beer. But as a west coast double IPA, it doesn't really stand out in any way.
