Notes / Commercial Description:
So mega-hopped it will take you to hop heaven. We’ve used hops in the boil, more hops in the giant hopback, and added to that, an incredible amount of dry-hopping for that cutting-edge “hop bite.” Once you’ve tasted this unique beer, all others pale in comparison. 1.072 OG Classified IBU

L - Amber with white head and some lacing
A - Pine, Resin and an underlying funk that for me is a bit unpleasant
T - Some pine, lots of grapefruit, funky after taste
F - pleasant medium body
I liked this beer, but may have been let down by my own expectations

Visited elder daughter Caitlin today up in Plymouth NH with Alewife and the Scheister... Cut a fresh Christmas tree and then had lunch at Biedermans... Alpine Pure Hoppiness? New to NH? WTF, Gus?!? Why not, eh... Got a pint, and later a second, for $6.00 each....

Shaker pint glass was filled to the brim with a slightly cloudy, medium copper/golden brew... Had scattered carbo, and a thin, fine, creamy white head. It was mostly thin because there was no more room in the glass for more than a sliver of foam. Lacing, once the level receded, was quite nice. Aroma was "pure hoppiness"! Lots of rindy, pithy, piney hop action was wafting about. T'was quite inviting... Body was no more than medium, and the feel was mostly smooth, with a smidge of prickle....

Flavor had a hint, no more, no less, of toasty malt and caramel. Thereafter it was hops and more hops. They were rindy, pithy and bitter, with a plentitude of grapefruit, and a hint of pineapple, hitting the palate. The lupulins lingered a bit, but it was mostly a dry finish.... Good bier? Yes indeed.... a solid DIPA, for sure. World beater? Not by a long shot.... Another product of the THM™.... Prosit!!

The beer has a nice white and frothy head that dissipates fairly quickly. The beer itself is a very nice clear medium amber that borders on bronze. The hue is pretty dang good looking to where looking at it almost makes me happy.

The beer smell is very good. It's a nice hoppy delight that definitely stands out even among most other DIPAs. This particular aroma has a nice hop smell. It's very hop but it doesn't fall under the 'Strategic Hop Bomb' category. The hop notes primarily fall under a strong dry hopped pine note with a little bit of grass and resin to it but the pine notes dominate it. However, there is also a slight sweet caramel malt note that is present and takes the edge off of the high hop content.

The taste is also pretty good. There is a strong bitter hop taste that comes out in pine notes and resin as well. There is also a slight malt sweetness in the finish to keep the beer from being too bitter.

The feel is heavy bodied but does not quite carry the same amount of weight that some other ones do. The beer seems to fall on the lighter side of the heavy bodied spectrum due to the light carbonation.

Overall, a very good DIPA. It's not too extreme but certainly hoppy enough to make the average hophead happy. Go for it.
