Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
So mega-hopped it will take you to hop heaven. We’ve used hops in the boil, more hops in the giant hopback, and added to that, an incredible amount of dry-hopping for that cutting-edge “hop bite.” Once you’ve tasted this unique beer, all others pale in comparison. 1.072 OG Classified IBU

huge fan of this one, thanks to my buddy for bringing me back one from his trip out there. stoked to finally try this rarity. this is really how double ipa used to be, and i bet when it came out, people were floored because they had never had anything like it. i think this is sort of the pliny effect. amazing beer, but a lot of others have caught up to it, even surpassed it at its own game over the years since it was first made. that said, its awesome, unique in its hops. very west coast, sticky and oily in all aspects, resinous and dank, less tropical than is fashionable now, but plenty of orange sweetness and assertive but not out of place hop bitterness. its a neat combination really, because while its a little intense, its also extremely drinkable as they go. also not trying to get up into the 10% abv range or anything, comfortable where its at. i like the citrus and pine mixture, and the relatively low bitter for what it is. still bitter, but i get more of the dry hops and the hop back processes than i do extended boil. as much as this is a flag post in the history of double ipa. i think it still stands out as original. more in flavor than in style anymore, but thats what we want right? i was overjoyed with it, and am dying for a bad boy now!
