Notes / Commercial Description:
So mega-hopped it will take you to hop heaven. We’ve used hops in the boil, more hops in the giant hopback, and added to that, an incredible amount of dry-hopping for that cutting-edge “hop bite.” Once you’ve tasted this unique beer, all others pale in comparison. 1.072 OG Classified IBU

Thanks to errantnight for the opportunity to sample this fine West Coast gem.

Poured out of a 22 oz. bottle into a snifter. Orange to yellow in color with a nice two finger head. Great lacing. Pine and grapefruit are the primary notes, but there isn't as much in terms of smell as is experienced with other DIPA's.

Taste is hoppy, crisp, citrus with a bite at the end. Somewhat oily mouthfeel with a medium level of carbonation. This is a very well-balanced beer with just a smidge of alcohol flavor at the end. At eight percent, it fills a niche between higher ABV beers like Hopslam and PTE and lower ABV IPA's like Masala Mama and Two Hearted Ale.

A refreshing and enjoyable beer, this is one that would be great on summer's day to go along with some grilling and baseball. While one bomber is all I need at a time, I definitely will keep this beer on my wants list for quite some time.

Bomber purchased from Alpine Beer Company on 7-16, and consumed on 7-27.

Nice, golden color with 1" head.

The smell is dank, weedy hops that preview what is yet to come.

The taste is a little lighter than expected, but delicious. Dank, fresh, herbal hops, tropical fruit, and a good malt back bone to balance it all out. This skews a little toward the Stone IPA's and reminds me somewhat of a lighter Enjoy by, but with more balance.

Mouthfeel is average for the style, with average carbonation. This was obviously bottled right before I purchased it as the freshness is there in spades.

What an enjoyable double IPA. It certainly gives it's more celebrated brothers Nelson and Duet a run for it's money from a quality/pleasure standpoint,, and I will happily buy my quota of this every time I set foot in Alpine Beer Co.

A - Pale gold, light brown, average to above average carbonation, minimal lacing

S - Sublet tropical fruit, not the big west coast dipa I was expecting. hints of peach juice, orange peel, guava

T - Bright, savory, crisp, mild to medium bitterness fades quickly

M - Balance is incredible, much like all the top shelf Alpines. hop wonderland.

O - Drinkability is off the charts, smooth, balanced, medium bodied, but light enough to throw back endless glasses. I'd go for a Nelson over this, but might beat Duet.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a snifter. Bottle was purchased on December 27th, 2013.

A - Dark gold to bronze

S - Citrus notes and grassy. Mostly a hop forward nose. Some biscuity/yeasty smells are noticeable after a little swirl.

T - Lots of citrus and tropical fruits from the hops. Lots of grapefruit, orange and pine. You also get a little toasted malt and biscuit toward the end. The finish is classic Alpine. Its crisp and resinous.

M - It's medium to light bodied. It has that oily/sticky body that I love in IPAs. Its very drinkable and hides the 8.00% Abv well.

O - This is another example of an amazing (D)IPA by Alpine. The classic resinous and crisp finish makes this beer extremely drinkable. Although I prefer Nelson and Duet to this (just barely), this is still a top DIPA that ranks up there with Heady and Pliny.

Ok, I'll be the stick in the mud.

I can think of 10-20 DIPA's I would rather drink . This was an expensive six-pack ($17) that didn't live up to it's price tag. Maybe that's not a fair way to judge this beer, but so be it.

Overall, this is an above average beer, however, the price and hype surrounding this brew demands greatness. It didn't happen for me.

The aroma was definitely the standout on this one. A nose full of piney goodness. Resiny with a touch of citrus and dank. The body was crisp and quaffable. There's nothing wrong with being "above average", but I was hoping for an experience that didn't happen.

Has a great aroma and a great bite. But a little too light of a feel for my preference. Overall very good ipa

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Have heard good things about this beer, and was hoping to enjoy it...can't say it lived up to expectations.

A: golden amber, white head, very little lacing

S: pine, earthy, dank hops

T: grassy, resiney, bitter

M: medium body, dry finish

O: decent offering if you like grassy, resiney, hoppy DIPA's. Not one of my favorites...sorry Alpine/Green Flash.
