From growler to pint glass
A: Dark brown, coffee-tan head that leaves scant lacing.
S: Coffee spearheads the bouquet, with surrounding notes of toasted whole grain bread, leafy hops and nutmeg.
T/M: Coffee-forward on the palate as well, but barely. Malts quickly sweeten, giving the brew a honeyed-bread flavor. The beer's viscosity works as a creamer. The combination of coffee and nutty malts yield undertones of holiday spice...nutmeg, perhaps cinnamon. Just a touch of hop-snap along with a hint of booze usher in relatively short finish.
Not a huge fan of coffee beers, but like most offerings from Alpine everything is nicely layered and drinkable.

Smell was nice but was a thin, watery, flat brown liquid. Tastes like ash and cigarettes, meh.....

Type: Draft
Glass: 16-oz. pint glass
From: Alpine Beer Company in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $4.50
Purchased: April 12, 2015
Consumed: April 12, 2015
Misc.: N/A
Poured a dark mahogany, reddish, brown color with 1-to-2 fingers of khaki tan head when I got it that thinned rather quickly. Good semi-layered, foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Poor retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled dark roasty coffee, bitter dark chocolate, crayon, roasty nuts and dark toffee. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted just like the smell, getting rich coffee malts, bitter coffee beans, dark chocolate, roasty wood, some crayon, dark toffee and caramel, and dark fudge. (Taste - 4.00)
Full-to-medium body. Oily texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was a really good coffee beer. I feel like I underrated it a tad, especially since I am a sucker for coffee ales. (Overall - 4.00)
