Well, Raul is digging into another Alpine and for this one Raul is getting all Al Green on it with a Koffee Sutra
Good and all that, a bit light, but it's a Brown Ale. And for Raul, he believes that coffee pairs better with stouts and porters - but this sucker ain't bad. Think of the Halle Berrie of Brown Ales.
Yep!

On tap @ the source.
A: Pours a clear brown with a 1/4-inch thick white head which leaves spotty lace.
N: Roasted coffee (duh).
T: Like an iced coffee.
M: Medium body and semi-moderate carbonation. A tad thin. Roasted coffee finish.
O: Straight forward and easy drinking.

From growler to pint glass
A: Dark brown, coffee-tan head that leaves scant lacing.
S: Coffee spearheads the bouquet, with surrounding notes of toasted whole grain bread, leafy hops and nutmeg.
T/M: Coffee-forward on the palate as well, but barely. Malts quickly sweeten, giving the brew a honeyed-bread flavor. The beer's viscosity works as a creamer. The combination of coffee and nutty malts yield undertones of holiday spice...nutmeg, perhaps cinnamon. Just a touch of hop-snap along with a hint of booze usher in relatively short finish.
Not a huge fan of coffee beers, but like most offerings from Alpine everything is nicely layered and drinkable.
