I went here for dinner during my latest visit to Sioux Fall. JL Beers is located in a nice and bustling area of the downtown.

As you enter the Bar is on the south side of the room and the rest of the place contains tables and an open kitchen.

Lots of draft beer options. The list is accessed via a QR code and the list contained some nice information on each beer. They have lots of local offerings and also some from adjacent states and national brewers.

The burgers were very good. Lots of options or you can design your own. Also have other options.

Our servers were very good. Friendly and up on the beer offerings.

This is another nice option in downtown Sioux Falls.

There are some things here done exceptionally well. The servers were knowledgeable about the beer, but would forget parts of our order. The Veal Parm sandwich I ordered was delicious but it was made with Swiss cheese and not deep fried like I would expect.

The beer selection is extensive and constantly changing. For each leg kicked, there was a new and unusual brew to take its place.

If this place was in Boston it would be far busier than here. Worth a visit.

Stopped by here when I got into town. I was interested in trying some local brews and although they had 40 taps, only about 5 were from NE, KS, SD, or ND. I was hoping to have a little more regional selection but I guess the other 35 beers were decent enough. Sports bar atmosphere with the Twins on TV as well as Crossfit. The vibe was bustling and happening and a hot place to be. The only food selection was a hamburger. I was hoping there would be some chicken or something else, but I guess they keep it simple. The burgers looked good but were pricey. A burger and fries, sold separately, would set you back about $10. Burgers looked small but good. Think Five Guys. The servers did a great job and the beer selection was awesome. If you like burgers, this might be the place to be.

Though I prefer the other JL, this one is excellent as well. It is a bit more difficult to get to when the downtown area is busy, and lunch hour and after work times are swamped. An excellent place to go with great selection, friendly folks and excellent food. I like their Android app which tells me about their current lineup, special events, etc.

A pretty good option for craft brews in the downtown area of Sioux Falls. And one that has fairly normal, and everyday operating hours, which is a plus. Their craft beer selection is pretty good, and it is nice to have the menus on hand. They were doing a special of Myrcenary, so I am assuming Odells has just arrived in the state. They had a few local options, as well as some regional favorites like Founders, Dark Horse, etc. Definitely worth the visit.

great burgers and beer selection. They have a Coyote Ugly type approach if you ask for a glass of water.

Awesome burgers and fries. Definitely get the beer cheese. I like getting a flight typically.

Great service, great burgers and a wonderful tap selection. Fun atmosphere as well.
The burgers are very reasonably priced. Beers are, perhaps, a little pricey. The service has always been top notch, with knowledgeable and friendly barkeeps. Great place.

I make it to Sioux Falls about once a month and JL Beers is always a stop. The burgers a great, but then I am going to see what is on tap and never come away disappointed. This past weekend I was there and they had Weinstephan on tap. For a wheat beer guy it is great to see the guy next to me drinking something as dark as night and me able to get a beer from the world's oldest brewery that is as good as it gets.

Was attending a meeting in Sioux Falls and looking for a place with some craft beer. J L Beers fit the bill. Would not go with a big group as it is small (they joke - serving thousands, 49 at a time) and some people waited a long time for tables, but I was by myself so I got a seat at the bar right away.

Service is very good. You get a name tag so the various barkeeps can keep your tab and you don't have to rely on one person to serve you. They also give you a free postcard (beermail) that they mail for you so you can tell a friend what you are up to.

Nothing special about the place itself. Just a bar with some TVs.

Tap selection is very good, although I might overrate it. Being from the East, there were a lot of beers I can't get from breweries in Idaho, Nebraska, Oregon and so on. The best beer I had was their house brew black ale. They don't brew so they have it brewed in Nebraska. I think the style rotates by season. Like many places, flights are a set and you cannot choose. I tried two combinations and the results were varied; some really good beers and some not so good. Bottle selection is limited, but if I am going for craft I prefer tap anyway. I can get bottles at the store.

Food is strictly burgers. Burgers are good, but it's about all you can get. And other reviewers are right, no tap water so you pay for bottled water.

Sioux Falls is a nice place, but not a big place so there are not a lot of choices. JL Beers was what I was looking for - a place to grab a quick bite to eat and try some beers I cannot get back home. Overall, recommended.

I enjoyed this bar. Plenty of great beers. And they are quick and encouraging you to try samples. I got a nice saison by Boulevard there called Brett. Excellent! I also had a decent House beer (cherry stout). The food is just a bunch of slammin' burgers. That is all.

I go there for the beers.

I was really impressed with the beer selection on my visit. The tap selection is heavy on American craft beer… multiple Deschutes, Moylans, Odell, Goose Island, etc… Not many duds on-tap either. The handful of imported beers were solid to excellent additions. Small selection of good beer in cans/bottles too. I was pleased. I thought the beer prices were a tad high.

The food menu is limited to burgers and fries. We didn’t eat but the food looked really good and it was cheap. This place is kind of like Smash Burger or 5 Guys but with lots of great beer.

One really stupid feature about this place is, wait for it… they don’t have tap water. You have to buy water for a $1.50 a bottle. Lame-ass.

It was busy as well on my visit and I thought the service was very good. Friendly and fast.

So JL Beers is a mix of sports bar, beer bar and fast food restaurant. Aside from the whole water issue this place rocked!

I'd say this place is a must stop in Sioux Falls... on my visit, they had a better tap selection than Monks!
