CAN from a Trader Joe's:

Fails both as a successful pumpkin ale and as an attempt to replicate the experience of drinking a pumpkin latte in beer form - not that that core premise is particularly worthy in its own right.

Forgettable fare from Martin House. At least dial up the coffee and pumpkin if you're brewing a coffee pumpkin ale. Is that too much to ask?

12 oz. can poured into vertical goblet

L: gold, clear, pushes up a tiny head barely more than a full skin, keeps a slight collar

S: nutmeg, molasses, clove, allspice ... loads and loads of nutmeg and a bit of ginger

T: nutmeg, pumpkin pie, pie crust ... much sweeter and more pumpkiny than the nose; not much coffee, but the second half of each swallow early on tastes like pumpkin pie with a soft crust and a pinch of whipped cream; pumpkin is earthy but sweetened by something; pinch of cinnamon; lots of nutmeg/ginger/clove; as it warms, a little bit of coffee flavor shows through, but it's slight

F: very light, soft, ale slick but not heavy, lightly crisp finish

O: this beer is growing on me as I work through the 12 ounces ... it's super spiced, the ginger/nutmeg note dominating the nose and leading the flavor, but there's some good pumpkin pie flavor, too, and the finish of each swallow that tastes like the bottom crust of a pumpkin pie with just a bit of pumpkin filling still on it and some whipped cream -- that's some tasty stuff; the can and word "latte" had me expecting more of a stout, but this is much, much lighter, definitely a pumpkin ale with plenty added; in the end I like it ... not sure I want much more than a 4-pack a season, but I'm glad I picked up the 4-pack

Pours a clear darker coppery color with off-white head. Pumpkin, spice, and coffee dominate the nose, pretty much in line with the name of the beer; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with the same combination of flavors, and in a beer, it doesn’t work the greatest. Odd to say the least.
