canned 11/1/19; poured into glass.
Appearance: rich coffee black body, and a thick dark tan head with very low retention and lacing that settles into barely there thin foam ring around the glass
Smell: nutty chocolate with a hint of coffee, smooth maple/honey sweet and roasted malts with deep burnt caramel; hints of leather linger.
Taste: follows the nose pretty spot on. more sweet than bittersweet but coffee/cacao nibs round it out. chocolate for dayzz and that hazelnut is a smooth hit. the coffee really doesn't kick on until the tail end.
Feel: fairly low carbonation, heavy bodied. mostly lush front with a bit of a dry finish on the tongue.
Overall (personal opinion):
delicious and smooth as hell, but a little on the sweet side for my personal choice. you might enjoy if you've had every other coffee or "breakfast" porter/stout and thought that they leaned too much on the coffee, bitterness, or booze from higher abv. the hazelnut and maple notes swing this more into a unique space; one I didn't even realize was missing until this brew.

Black with a thick tan head. Smells of roasted barley, black coffee, and Tootsie Roll. Bold, rich flavor. I was expecting to be disappointed by prominent charred (barley) or bitter (cacao and coffee) flavors, but in fact this beer is very well balanced. Creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Overall a very enjoyable porter.
