A - Pours a light, clear yellow/gold with a scoche of haziness. Nice sediment swirling in the glass. Long lasting thin head.
S -The aroma is somewhat muted Belgian yeast, malts, slight alcohol, and hops. Like someone said below "For a Belgian Pale Ale, I've never seen anything like this." I agree wholeheartedly.
T - Taste is excellent and has even more of the Belgian yeast notes than the nose suggests. Everything was very well blended and balanced.
M - Light bodied for sure. Carbonation is perfect and there is very little ABV bite. Bitterness right on the mark.
O - I'm not a huge fan of Blonde Ale's by any means, but this "Belgian Pale Ale" was a shining example of the genre. I got this as a gift and would buy more at retail prices for sure, but not pay a premium. Seek it out, but maybe one of these days I'll find a nice facsimile that is more readily available.

Poured to a Chimay glass.

A: Body pours a crystalline yellow with zero haziness and very clear body, though tons of sediment are on the glass. Head is white and shows great retention.
S: The aroma is so soft and crisp of belgian yeast, tons of malt and just a slight touch of lemon peel and light alcohol. For a Belgian Pale Ale, I've never seen anything like this.
T: Taste is just great, crisp, soft and complex as a Saison but its flavours are all found in a regular BPA. Clove sweetness, yeast sweetness and very slight tartness, big malty touches providing even more sweetness and preparing for some bitterness but only a light bitterness is showing off. All and all, very balanced and tasty. Great beer.
M: Body is medium to high. Carbonation is perfect. Alcohol is unnoticed. Bitterness is low.
O: This might sound silly, but my favorite Westvleteren is clearly this one. It's an odd to Belgian Pale Ales.

03/18 date on the cap.

A: Pours a very slightly hazy gold. Ginormous frothy white head on top, one of the biggest I've seen. Top notch retention and quite a bit of lacing as well.

S: Really nice. Light grass and citrus. Doughy malt aroma.

T: More of the same. Light grass and a bunch of citrus up front. Lightly sweet heading into a doughy malt. Spices kick in immediately afterwards, mainly white pepper and some cloves maybe? Finish is crisp and sharp with those spices lingering on forever.

M: Lighter bodied, soft and smooth. Spicy at points.

O: Excellent pale ale/blond. I'm not generally a fan of the style but those monks know what they're doing. Impressive!

It's a fine blond, nothing special. Taste-wise, it presents a fairly standard palate based on grain and yeast. Nothing is out of place and it combined quite well, but nothing is outstanding either. The feel is similarly perfectly adequate, but nothing too special.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy light golden color with a nice head that lasts a long time. Nose is classic Belgian pale ale with citrus and maybe a bit of yeast. The tongue revels in the well balanced malt, hops and yeast. No off flavors. Yum!
