22 oz bottle poured into snifter Heaven Hills BA Acoustic Ales

A: black very very little head some light lacing and tiny bubbly film

S: oak, bourbon, some dark fruit figs maybe a good bit of cheap

T: cheap whiskey dark chocolate

M: thin watery

O: one of the most average barrel aged stouts I have ever had. It is bordering on awful and undrinkable its one dimensional and watery.

On tap at Queenstown House. Notes of chocolate and bourbon quite strong, not boozy, very smooth. Honestly not sure why the lower rating overall.

22oz bottle - Heaven Hill BA. Opaque dark brown hue with a moderate far tan foam. Boozy dark chocolate milk nose. Cocoa, whiskey, oak, dried dark fruit flavors (in that order); roasty malt /coffee finish. Drier than I liked, but decent overall. Full body and moderate carbonation.

**essentially the same as the Unplugged Roses but worse**

Poured into a snifter glass, pours a medium black with an average amount of light brown head. Nose is of a typical oatmeal stout, slight hints of chocolate. With the added Belgian milk chocolate, sugar and molasses it's very surprising that this beer is kind of tasteless, I thought for sure it would be a sweet chocolate bomb, but allas, it's not. I can't remember the last time I had such a muted beer of this caliber, it's just so light and flavorless, like a sub 5% stout with no additives. Very disappointing. Almost forgot, for a BBA beer it possess absolutely NO bourbon notes at all...

In conclusion, a beer that promises to be a decadent delight falls absolutely short.

Decent vanilla, bourbon and oak flavor. Roasted malts take a back seat. Thinner mouth feel and lighter bodied.

With a licorice black color, it tastes like slightly bitter…nothing, even after being warmed up. On the first day, for a malt-forward beer, there isn’t any flavors that make this beer represent the style. At first, I was thinking there must be a lot of subtle flavors that are canceling each other out. After a day has passed, deep caramels, phenols and boozy licorice appeared in the flavor, although there is no milk chocolate in sight. The yeasts must have eaten a lot of it during the brewing process, as the beer is more bitter than it is balanced. Overall, I would rather try out the regular version and move on to the Barrel Aged Numbskull and Olde Ale/Special Reserve from Alesmith Brewing Company, Rye-on-Rye from Boulevard Brewing Company and the Vanilla Bean Stout from Avery Brewing. These bourbon barreled beers have more personality and are a lot more maltier than this beer.

Had this on 2017-02-05 in Columbia, PA from a 2015 vintage 22oz bottle

A - Opaque dark brown with a 2-finger mocha head and little lace

S - Molasses and black licorice

T - Dark roasted grain, light bourbon, umami, some black licorice, molasses, coffee, green pepper and earthy spice. Roasted bitterness in the finish.

M - Light-medium body and carbonation. Watery for an Imperial Stout.

O - I'm not a big fan of black licorice but even so, it's a somewhat-decent Imperial Stout.
