Poured at 58 degrees, deep amber/coppery ruby brown with good clarity under a thick, creamy beige head; cap retention to the bottom of the glass; heavy lacing; no legs. Smoke, sweet malt and medium fruity esters in nose. Liquid smoke, char, burnt fruit cake, caramel malt, fruity sweet plums and raisins; more fruity than malty. Medium body, moderate plus carbonation; no warmth from 8.5%. Overall, the fruity nose/taste dominates the malt base; the body is a bit thin; and there is more char than I want; solid, but I’m not feeling it...

L: bright dark brown with brilliant ruby highlights under a 1.5" tan cap with good retention and a very fine bead.
S: malty with a touch of smoke, bread crust, light toast, some spice, a hint of root beer, brown sugar.
T: There is just enough smoke to take the edge off the rich malt, dark caramel, and brown sugar flavors.
F: medium full to full body, creamy, medium low carbonation.
O: Well balanced and executed with all the parts working very well together.

From the 22 oz bomber in a snifter. This solid scotch ale pours a
rich and dark brownish mahogany with a very nice head of khaki foam
that subsides to a thick ring and layer with subtle lacing. Nose gives way to
notes of heavy smoked peat malts, subtle cherries, toffee, caramel, blonde licorice,
and touches of biscuit. Flavors follow the nose with a cherry tinged toasted malt
surrounded on all sides by smoked peat malts and subtle peach notes with toffee
and brown sugars around light breaded malts. Solid mouth feel for the style;
medium body, lightly coating, smooth, lightly warming, light carbonation, and
a smoked malt finish.
Overall, a SOLID brew from a brewery I would love to visit.
Cheers

L - teku pour. Dark cola brown with ruby hues. Snowflake white fizzy head
S - Smells like fermented corn... very distinctly like bud light but stronger... wtf? There might be a faint smokeyness to it but it's predomitely a buttery corn like smell.
T - nice smoke up front. Light and quaffable. Grainy malt neither bitter nor sweet. Taste somewhat reminiscent of a buckwheat pancake. Reminds me of schlenkerla helles but more peaty.
F - dry, very dry. High levels of carbonation. Leaves your mouth with a dusty smokiness.
Overall - I don't not enjoy this. I think I had higher expectations for this brewery but this is my first of a few to try from hammerheart. I foresee promising things with the others that I try given the craftsmanship that this was brewed with.

750 ml mini growler from the brewery. Poured into a Hammerheart tulip glass.

Good hints of peat along with a little anise. Sweet scent of brown sugar, molasses. and vanilla. Light hints of floral hops. A really nice rich aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, a rich, toasty, and smokey malt driven taste with notes of smoke, caramel, and biscuit. Toasted malt with a taste of smoke, toast, toffee, caramel, biscuit, and grains along with yeast. Some notes of peat, leather, and anise. Sweet taste of molasses, brown sugar, and vanilla. Some earthy hop bitterness towards the finish. A really good taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium to heavy bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and fairly chewy with a drying finish.
Overall: A really good Scotch Ale. Good mix of smoke and caramel malt flavor.
