Notes:
Our brewery is built in the honor and recognition of the old Nordic and Celtic cultures, rich with experience and wisdom, literature, and life.

The brewery's name was chosen from the epic Viking metal album "HAMMERHEART" by the classic swedish metal band Bathory. Fitting as it involves two sources of endless inspiration for us…metal and norse mythology..
HammerHeart Brewing will continue to brew beers inspired by Norse and Celtic history, lore, old world tradition, beauty and wonder of dense forests, running water, towering mountains and of course, all forms of heavy metal.

While I like the divey vibe of Hammerheart brewing, there's really not a whole lot to commend this place otherwise. HH is a fairly small location, with a modest size bar area to your immediate right as you come in (maybe 6 or 7 seats), and then a smatter of table and chairs in the low key, low ceiling public area. This place is very much a no frills taproom, where folks drop by to pick up growlers or hang out with a pint or two of whatever happens to be on tap on a given day.

On the day we visited, I think they had around 9 different beers on tap, and then a couple of bottles available as well (for either off site or on site consumption). Quality was all over the map I thought. The imperial longship and BA Dublin's raid were both quite good, while the Gorm and British IPA were fair at best. The pale orb (smoked pumpkin IPA) was a complete fail and pretty much undrinkable. I was hoping to try the BA Olaf, but they were out of it the day we stopped in. However, as it turned out, the Republic Pub had it on tap as part of their Black Friday event. So I tried if there. Mehhh. There is no table service here, so the expectation is that you walk up to the cash register (if you're sitting at a table) and place your order there. The young guy taking our orders was pleasant enough, but it's unclear to me why anyone would give the service here a better than average score, given the set up. I should add that there's no kitchen here, but they have some snacks (chips, nuts... that sort of thing) you can order.

Given some of the BA review scores I see for this place, I have to think there's some inside joke I'm not privy to. At least based on the experience we had the other day, I'm completely stumped by some of the lofty review scores. Maybe it helps it you're really in to heavy metal music (which was piped in over the sound system non-stop while we were there)?

I really enjoyed the imperial longship, which is really the only reason I can imagine coming here again. Otherwise, there are plenty of places where you can find good beer in the twin cities. IMHO, this really isn't one of those places.

Easily one of my favorite breweries to visit. Their Mjolnir em-brazened logo greets you from the road. The front entrance greets you with Scandinavian flags and looks like a log cabin. Once inside the vibe is great, it's like walking into an old Norse tavern. Wooden floors, and walls. Wooden stools with oak barrels as tables, lights adorned with stag horns, Black Metal music playing over the speakers. It sets the mood incredibly well. And the beer? Well the beer is absolutely top notch. Truly world class in my humble opinion. Most of their offerings tend to be smoked (which I personally love), but they brew all over the spectrum. They even brew some of the much lesser known European styles. Normally around 8-10 constantly rotating brews on tap, all of which tend to be very good to absolutely phenomenal. The prices are pretty damn good, and there are multiple serving size options. Growlers and crowlers are also available, and are very reasonably priced considering the liquid inside. Overall just a fantastic brewery to frequent, laid back, low key, and really harnesses the Minnesota/Old Norse charm. Easily the best brewery that few have heard about. If your in Minnesota this is an absolute must go-to!

Just a mile or so of 35w sits Hammerheart it looks like a Scandinavian outpost, Norwegian flags and north land cabin look with a Lord of the Rings vibe its a unique place its dark and danky when you walk in colors of black and gun metal, barrels are visible thru a window with brew aging in them. Service was oh so friendly these guys like what they are doing, had 3 brews all were very good one Ba ,2 smoked, wish i lived closer cause i really liked this place and want to see what they offer on a regular basis. Headed north? well pull off at Lino Lakes. In the TC? its just a short drive north. I recommend this place

Finally stopped in on my way out of the Cities going camping. It was about 5 pm on Thursday, so not very busy...staff was really friendly. Unlike a lot of tap rooms in the cities, it wasn't a hipster vibe at all. It is a fairly small space, kind of dark and dennish...would probably be really cozy in the winter. The outdoor patio is okay -- kind of between the road and the building, partially shielded by some conifers. The beers, though, are outstanding. 10 on tap, available in full pours or 8 oz (as I recall) and a nice variety.
