Not sure about this one! After enjoying their White Ale, I was excited to try this one, but after the first sip, I'm not so sure. After the first swig, I'm tasting licorice???WTH? This gives way to a drier, hoppier aftertaste. The warmer it got, the licorice taste subsided a bit, but was still there. Overall, I'm not sure what St. Archer was shooting for here, but IMHO they missed the DIPA target with this one.

Ummm... that was good. This was my first Saint Archer and I picked a beaut. This seriously sits up there with many other DIPAs. Could make my list in the forum if anyone ever trots out one of those "top five" posts. So, a deep gold, lighter than the usual DIPA, from a 22 to a tulip. The aroma is there: pungent florals and citrus, without being overwhelming. The flavor continued that floral/tropical theme. The initial bitters are really well balanced with a subtle malt sweetness that adds pop to the tropicals. Nice citrus finish, nor harsh alcohol. This will definitely go into the rotation... and did its job of piquing my interest in other offerings by this brewer.

Criminally underrated DIPA, this thing burts with a pungent hop nose and equally robust palate. It's savory, with bits of pine and tropical fruit thrown in. I'll say it 'till I'm blue in the face -- Saint Archer's pale ale/IPA/DIPA lineup is as strong as anyone not just in the state but in the country.

On tap at Umami burger, Anaheim. Nice hazy lemon-gold with a thick white head, crazy lacing. Bright citrus fruits and floral hops on the nose. Taste has some honey and those very citrusy hops.

Poured into a pint glass from bottle.

Golden yellow, fizzy but disapates quickly

Smells dank. Hoppy, tropical.

Tropical fruit, Danny, bitter. Really good.

Under the radar dipa out of San Diego. Go figure

Pleasant tangy brew with an intense piney and citrusy hop flavor. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Baron's Market on West Point Loma. Clear amber with a tall pile of coarse foam in the Crooked Line tulip. Aroma of fruity hops.

Hot and woody. Warm and malty, but hot with alcohol. Melon and white wine and just a little spoiled fruit. Sharp and on the acidic side. Long grapefruit peel burn but not terribly bitter. Quite sippable but not as interesting as some other DIPAs, somehow. But the mouthfeel is quite sudsy and entertaining and it stays frothy for a long time.
