Pours a straw yellow with a frothy white head. Smells like grapefruit rind and pine. Taste follows the nose. Citrus bitterness with a bit of pine. A bit of biscuity malt in there too, but this is definitely towards the hop side of the spectrum. Classic WCIPA. Reminds me a lot of Swami's actually. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. The bitterness is a bit much though. Not enough hop aroma to balance out the bitterness. Overall, I like this one a lot. It's not something I would buy all the time but definitely worth trying. Saint Archer's DIPA on the other hand is out of this world.

Melony, herbal, floral nost with some fresh grass nd traces of orange. Pours straw with just a slight haze that becomes brilliant as the beer warms. . The thick, off-white head is persistent, very dense and finely bubbled, lacy and very easily roused. Each drink prodces thin ledges of lace. Big citric bitterness charges up front and then introduces several other elements, drying out on the finish becoming more of a blend of grapefruit rind and quinine. There is a fruitiness composed of melon, orange, citrus and tropical fruit behind the bitterness. There is a trace of herbal chalkiness or astringency on the palate that lingers. The carbonation is above average but is creamy soft and not harsh and actually provides some balance to the bitterness. Drinkable and refreshing.

A: Moderately hazy, light golden (pilsner) color. Poured into a frozen pint glass with no head, and only a island of smaller bubbles in the middle of the glass.

S: Good nose; lots of florals, fruits, and pine. Smells delicious.

T: Interesting. Starts with a very mild fruit sweetness and some earthy, spicy hops. The fruits are more subdued than the smell would lead you to believe; maybe more melon than other sweeter fruits. Mid-taste never really hits the malts, though it does finish with earthy, citrusy hops. No hint of its 6.8% abv in the taste.

M: Medium thickness/quickness. Moderate- carbonation; less than most other IPAs. Medium stickiness on the tongue after swallowing.

O: Not a bad brew, but in the IPA jungle that is Southern California, there are no shortage of other brews that are better. I would like to see the clarity/head retention cleaned up a bit, the fruity/malty taste kicked up a notch, and the carbonation increased a half volume or so.

On tap at True North in the North Park area of San Diego.

Pour is light amber-gold with fine-grained visible carbonation and a very durable, semi-creamy off-white head. Exceptional sticky lacing.

Smell: strong and pungent (hops).

Taste: Not as intense as the aroma suggests yet this could still pass as a DIPA. Medium-high bitterness. Bitterness is moderated by some malts. .

Feel: medium body; medium-high but soft carbonation.

O: Very good IPA IF you like this hop load ... but not my cup of tea.

Poured from a can. No freshness date.

Appearance - Pours a hazy straw yellow with a finger's width of white head. Sub-par retention results in a mostly barren surface and a razor thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass.

Smell - Light aroma consisting of orange and pineapple.

Taste - Follows the nose. Light flavor, with orange and lesser pineapple. Hints of crackery malt. Light pith bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Light in body with bitey carbonation. Crisp, dry finish.

Overall - Drinks more like a session IPA, though the 6.8% begs to differ. A little too light in flavor for my ideal IPA, though it would make a great option for a day in the sun, particularly in can form.

Slightly hazy yellow color with white head. Bright, fresh hops on the aroma. Not fruity but herbal, earthy and dank. Taste starts hoppy up-front with the same earthy, resiny flavors. Bitter but not harsh. Soft mouthfell with just the right amount of carbonation. This is a very fine example of an american west coast style IPA.

This beer has a sharp, bitter hop forward taste. This is not unlike many of the San Diego IPAs (Green Flash, Stone, Ballast Point etc) Contrasted to Russian River, Lagunitas, Firestone IPAs it is (in my opinion) very unbalanced. Northern Cal seems to have a better handle on the hop + malt backbone IPA vs. the jarring hop bite of San Diego brews.
