While our common consensus of the American pale ale style is disappearing before our eyes, if the style is to exist, it will be because of folks like the Seventh Son brewers- those who elevate the beer's character- aroma, taste, bitterness and body to compete in the culinary-rich craft beer scenes.

Bright golden and lightly copper, the pale ale carries a gentle haze with a frothy white head and delicate lacing to trail. With a citrus and tropical mindset, the scent opens with perfume, fruit and herb. Its flavors are sweet and dryly of sweet and spicy breads that are suggestive of graham cracker, granola and caramel.

And with the middle palate opening, the flavors blossom with tangerine, pink grapefruit, apricot, mango and peach. While the sweetness relaxes slightly, the balance comes around to the hops that go from floral and citrusy toward bitter, herbal and piney late.

Medium-bodied from sip until finish, the beer is even-keel and impeccably balanced, never favoring hops nor malt and carrying a comfortable and moderate stride throughout the taste. Ideal for an array of pizzas, the ale lingers with a bitter pine, grassy and herbal grip

This awesome APA pours a bright golden copper color from the can with a fantastic head of white foam that settles nicely to a thick ring, nice pooling layer, and excellent sudsy lacing. Nose of grapefruit, orange zest, subtle breaded malts, and light honey. Flavors follow the taste with balanced grapefruit and orange zest flavors hitting solidly among the honey and breaded malts on the front and middle. A balanced pine note hits middle to back and fades off in the back finishing with a herbal and bittering hops note that ends clean on the palate. Very nice mouth feel, crisp, refreshing, and while full of flavor finishing clean with a light bitterness.

BALANCE BALANCE BALANCE. The three cornerstones of a great session brew.

This brewery deserves a more scrutinizing look from the locals and would generate substantial buzz if they had wider distribution.....like say as far as CIncy (HINT!).

One of the rock stars of the Columbus micro scene. Perfect!

Cheers!

Picked up a 4 pack while in Columbus, OH today. Very fresh and vey good. This style is becoming my go-to style , and this beer exemplifies the style. Piney and citrusy at once, incredible smell, and purely refreshing.
