Sampled tonight on 7/19/14. From The Traveler Beer Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a pilsner flute glass.

Pours a hazy straw-yellow in color with a thin white head that doesn't last a real long time. Spotty lacing is seen but not a lot. Some sediment is found in the bottom of the bottle. Good amount of carbonation with streams of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. The aroma is lots of strawberry with a hint of lemon. The taste is of strawberries with their sweetness and the lemon zest with the tartness. Good mix of flavors with a bit of grain from the ale. Full bodied with good taste. Different than a 'Red's Strawberry Ale' as that is good also. A good summer brew.

$ 1.69/12 oz bottle at Vintage Estates in Boardman, OH
Bottle best by October (No year) at 40 degrees into standard pint glass
Aroma of strawberries
Head large (5 cm), white, fizzy, rapidly diminishing to 2 mm layer
Lacing poor – occasional small island of small bubbles
Body light yellow, cloudy
Flavor of sweet strawberries followed by a little bit of non-specific sourness. No hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate light to medium, syrupy, soft carbonation.

Not a particularly good shandy – too cloying and not very refreshing. Any of the orange, lemon, or grapefruit shandys are more refreshing.

A: Thick cloudy yellow with lots of carbonation. Small half finger head that takes some time to go down. Leaves no lacing. To be honest, I'm surprised that there's no red coloring (fake or natural).

S: Powerfully fruity. The strawberry smells almost fake and masks any sort of potential lemon notes.

T: To my amazement, you can pick out the lemon. The sweeter and tart notes of the strawberry come through and linger nicely. Somehow it tastes a little fake, but still natural if that makes sense. There are some sweet wheat and biscuit notes too.

M: Full bodied and wonderful. Just enough carbonation to tingle the palate but without being harsh. Awesome. Literally can taste no alcohol whatsoever - that could be dangerous.

O: People bash on it sometimes, but I enjoy it. Maybe it doesn't taste like artificial strawberry shortcake. That is the difference that sets Traveler apart from Lienenkugel's - You can tell they use better quality ingredients (that are actually brewed in the beer and not mixed in after). Maybe it's not the best beer ever, but it's crisp and refreshing, which I enjoy. Try this one out.

Very light and refreshing. Cloudy and light lemon in color. Smell is very faint, of lemon, strawberry, and straw. Taste is very mild. Slightly watery feel, slightly sweet, hint of lemon and strawberry. Great for a hot day and maybe some spicy grilled food. Tempting to pour it over ice as it is more of a hint of lemonade flavor than beer flavor.

Very cloudy. Translucent head forms a small lip on top.

Strawberry hard candy, pink lemonade, citrus fruits, wheat malt, and more candy.

Strawberry gummi candy, lemony wheat, lemon rind, yeast junk, sweet tart candy notes, and finishing bitterness.

Rustle of carbonation, followed by a smooth body and swallow. Good and plenty refreshing.

Another shandy in the books, folks.

My strawberry infused shandy says that it's a seasonal, not sure which season but the expiration date is good until August 2014. This one looks pretty close to the lemon version, maybe a shade deeper honey golden, with a bright white head forming thick creamy textured foam. Aromatics contain bright strawberry jam notes, sharp wheat and bready grains, hint of chalky yeast accents. The tart strawberry accent along with some candied malts. Flavor very sweet and cloying it's like lathering your tongue with strawberry jam, a bit of bready malts and yeast notes are caught in the finish but there's really no balance to this one. Mouthfeel is hard to describe, but damn it's hard to stomach too sweet the wife or the drain either one can finish this one. Carbonation doesn't seem to be an issue it's just the dessert level of strawberry sweetness, makes me want to add some cream cheese and pretzels to balance it out to a strawberry pretzel dessert shandy. Overall, I will pass on this super sweet offering, I like strawberries in all forms but this one was over the top with sweetness.

Such a good summer beer! I suggest staying away from this during the colder months because it's fruity taste and refreshing mouthfeel are really meant for the summer and early fall, however, this is a really nice treat wherever you are as long as you don't take yourself super seriously! Highly drinkable, suited for literally any situation (depending on the season) and can be drank at a variety of temperatures, although i prefer lower 40s to low 60s (F)

I have to admit that I was a tad surprised to see this lineup of ales on this site, but I am not complaining, either. It is a tried-and-true style with well-developed historical roots. Plus, it makes for a nice change of pace from the seeming onslaught of AIPAs.

From the bottle: "Quite a Refresher!"; "Got some TIME on your hands? Find us on Facebook and Twitter".

I could see its cloudiness even while it was still in the bottle, so there was no need for gentility in my pour. I produced two fingers of dense, French Vanilla-colored head with decent retention. Color was a cloudy orangish-yellow (SRM = > 5, < 7), like freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice. Nose was both sweet and tart with the strawberry and lemon scents commingling nicely. Mouthfeel was kind of watery but the taste was pleasantly imbalanced on the strawberry side with the lemony zest as a kind of undercurrent. Finish was semi-sweet with the lemon tartness keeping the strawberry sweetness in check. Once more, it would probably be better on a hot, humid summer's day, but here I am in early winter ...

A: Pours a lightly pink-hued muddy orange color with a fingers worth of head that fades down to a thin cap

S: Dominated by the strawberry, with a hint of lemon and sweetness

T: Again dominated by the strawberry. A hint of lemon and citrus comes through before giving way to malt breadiness. Finishes lightly sweet

M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Slightly chalky

O: A nice twist on the original. Great if you like strawberries. Very easy to drink and put back on a hot summer day

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – Pours a super hazy orange-amber color with a one finger creamy-pure white head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a decent level of lace in on the sides of the glass.

Smell- The smell is super sweet with a huge sweet lemonade aroma mixed with a very fruit punch Jell-O and pixie stix candy sugar smell. Other fruits join the aroma as well creating a very delicious candy and sweet fruit smell overall.

Taste – The taste starts with a mix of a bready flavor with a strong sweet lemonade taste upfront. As the taste advances some yeast and a bit of spice come to the tongue with the brew sweetening all the while as the more fruit punch like flavors start coming to the tongue. In the end the sweet Jell-o like fruity flavors get rather strong and when combine with the lemonade and bready tastes leaves a quite sweet and lemony fruit punch like flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is very light with a carbonation level that is on the medium side with very tiny carbonation bubbles tickling the tongue. The body and carbonation are perfect for the lighter drinking style and sweeter flavors of the brew making for a super easy summer drinker.

Overall – A very nice summer style refreshing brew when you are looking for something that is quite sweet. It is more on the fruit-hard lemonade side but has just a hint of beer like flavor and texture. While not what I am looking for when I want a beer to sit down with for a “beer” it is quite awesome for warm weather when I feel like something more sweet.

12oz longneck
A) Pours with a two finger head, bright white and tight. Settles leaving a creamy lacing at the edge of the glass. Hazy, yellow-gold body.
S) Apples. Hints of orange.
T) Hints of fruit, but not a clear taste. Green apple. Grainy. Nutty in the aftertaste.
M) Light bodied. Creamy. Smooth.
O) A refreshing brew for a hot and humid day.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a cloudy, opaque, pale yellow coloring with a slight ring of white bubbling on the surface. Aromas of lemon zest, berry sweetness, and a roasted grain backbone. Smells inviting and sweet. Flavors are darkly sweet, with a grainy backbone supporting raspberry and strawberry sweetness. Carbonation provides an effervescent feel in mouth, keeping the palate light. The aftertaste is berry sweetness with hints of roast, leading to a clean, slightly effervescent finish. Refreshing and sweet, I can see how this would be good in a mid-summer swelter.

I thought it'd be pink. Dark yellowy gold color with a quick fizzle head. Translucent.

Upon first whiff fresh strawberry ice cream comes to mind. There's a dandelion dry earthy undertone that I really like.

Beery fruit salad. The fruit actually tastes like fruit which is always a good thing. The strawberry and lemon combine to taste like rhubarb pie flavored shandy. Yeasty, musty finish.

Not a big fruit beer guy but this is drinkable.

A - Well so far so good it doesn't look like Lennie's "Berry Weiss" (meaning a awkward purple red) Having mostly a light amber red body and a 1/4 inch of sticky head it at least looks like a beer.
S - Smell is of wheat, lemon, and coriander that of their other Shandy's but it has a mild bit of strawberry which I didn't expect since I didn't read the label.
T - Not a bad fruit beer one bit the strawberry doesn't come off bitter or offensive or even cough drop like it really adds to the shandy experience with wheat and lemon peel highlighting. Not bad.
M - Light in body, must be a summer brew.

Overall I don't really run out and buy light beers but this was an unexpected find. A really easy drinking strawberry ale that does have any BMC skunk or metallic notes. Pick it up!

Pours a bright yellow with amber highlights. Similar to the other flavor I tried. I think it's meant to evoke the image of a wheat beer to the casual drinker.

I smell what has to be strawberry or some type of berry (the label isn't clear). Smells like strawberry Kool-Aid.

Ditto on the taste. A middle of the road berry taste that again is likely strawberry. Crisp and inoffensive. A decent amount of body and carbonation is more tolerable than the other flavor.

Lingering fake strawberry bakes the tongue.

Not a bad idea if you don't want a straight-forward beer, or malt beverage. Shandy isn't just a fad. It has a long and interesting history.

Had this at the Brew-Woo in Worcester, MA. It is described as "a vibrant wheat beer brewed with real strawberry for a subtle, yet complex flavor." At first we actually thought it was a watermelon wheat but then we read the label and were pleasantly surprised. Strawberry is seemingly underrepresented in the beer world. A good summer drink. Fruity but not overly sweet. Very refreshing!
