Got this one from a trade with Siddfinch a while back. Cheers man!

Cellar Series vol. 1

APPEARANCE: Transparent black pour yields a two finger, medium looking, slightly foamy and crackly tan head with good retention. Jet black body with next to no carbonation evident. Head slowly crackles down to a nice full wisp cap and clings to the glass a touch. A slight wisp and ring remain leaving some decent lacing down the glass. Good looking for sure.

SMELL: Medium strength nose of barrel notes, bourbon, oak, sweet cream and vanilla aromas, coconut, milk chocolate, toffee and butterscotch as well. This is much like the base beer though there is a bit of vanilla bean over it all, perhaps. Not quite as bold as the other variants either, unfortunately.

TASTE: Rather boozy up front with oak, bourbon, alcohol and woody flavors, much like the base Resolute. Cheap in the spirit department again, which is not much of a surprise. Alcoholic and paint-thinner at the swallow with a bolder and lingering finish of wood, lumber, alcohol, cheap bourbon and perfume, with a slight hint of vanilla beans, apparently. I can pick the vanilla beans out but if you hadn’t told me, I would have just thought it was barrel character, as the other variants have notes of vanilla in them too.

PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. A little prickly and fizzy on the palate, goes down a bit harsh and finishes mouth-coating. Decent amount of heat lingers.

OVERALL: This is also half decent, but nothing better than the original version. Again, the spirit is too harsh and perfume-like while the oak is very woody, almost like tasting straight lumber. The feel is also too prickly and fizzy. The look is good and the nose alright, though it’s milder than the other variants, but after that, there’s not much overly positive going on. I’d pretty much pass on this entire series. Thanks again SiddFinch!

Having this next to the non-vanilla version, this was pretty similar. However, the alcohol is cut away slightly from a smooth vanilla flavor. Chocolate, charred oak, and coffee are cut with a bourbon flavor throughout.

Nice looking, and smells a lot like a vanilla bomb. Tastes ok with a lot of alcohol and a soft vanilla flavor.
Mouthfeel is thin and tons of alcohol burn. The low point of this brew is the burn. Lots of breweries are doing similar abv's with a smooth taste.
Drank side by side with bourbon county vanilla rye and wasn't even close.

Had to comment on this one after reading others opinions. I thought the vanilla was very present but I did drink the beer on draught and have not tried a bottle. It was good.

Appearance: pours jet black. some brownish along the edges. a small tan head with good retention and leaving behind a small lacing. completely opaque. leaves behind some brown viscous legs.

Smell: chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak. alcohol, dark fruits. very smooth.

Taste: opens up with a strong bourbon along with vanilla bean sweetness. oak comes through along with some dark fruits. the end is full of chocolate, and roasted malts.

Mouthfeel: exceptionally smooth. lingering bourbon flavor. little to no alcohol burn.

Overall: my favorite of the variants, great complexity and balance of flavors. the vanilla does a lot for this big thick chocolatey beer.

Second favorite of this years variants and it is great. The vanilla nose is good but doesn't overwhelm. I thought this beer shined as it warmed a little from the temp it was originally poured and as the flavor opened up it really turned into something special.
