Pours opaque black with a half inch beige head that fades completely. The smell is of oak, dark chocolate and vague fruit. The taste is mostly dark chocolate with notes of oak, and apple brandy. Medium texture with low carbonation. World class.

2016 I believe, .... poured from a bomber, dark black with thin khaki head.... smell is dark chocolate brownie with sweet apple alcohol notes.... taste is dark chocolate brownie batter, with a sightly sweet boozy apple finish, then more dark chocolate, and heat from the alcohol---not overpowering but definitely present....some molasses and dates in their also.... powerfully concentrated and intense--something of a sipper, and very well-done....reminds me of Pugachev cobra!

2015. Poured from a bomber into a snifter, the beer is jet black and oily thick, with a low profile, bubbly, dark tan head that quickly recedes into a thin halo. Aromas of rich brandy and booze forward, milk chocolate, roasted coffee, tangy toffee sweetness, woody highlights, and some sweet cream character, too. Very rich and inviting nose. Flavors are smooth, rich, and creamy forward, with a solid balance of creamy milk chocolate, subtle roasted coffee, sweet and boozy apple brandy, subtle wood spice and char, hints of smoke and earth, and some solid rich molasses and toffee in the backbone. The end of the palate is tied off nicely with a solid bolt of the apple brandy booze and warmth, which ties off all of the richness into a very drinkable package very nicely. Velvety smooth, chewy, and bold, this beer is massive, but cascades over the palate in a very drinkable manner. The aftertaste is more of the darker and bittersweet components, like chocolate and coffee, but with continuing notes imparted from the apple brandy barrel. Smooth, slow, creamy finish, with a solid warmth building at the end. Great beer.

Resolute base is awesome. The apple brandy resolute was just a little boozy fresh from the tap. Had on resolute day and on a separate occasion at the brewery. Sitting on two bottles for at least a year to see if the booziness mellows out.

Dark stout with big notes of candy apple, Granny Smith Apple tart, raisin, caramel, vanilla. Roasty and full bodied yet juicy and drinkable. A unique and excellent beer.

750ml bottle, served in a snifter glass.

Pours a dark black body, minimal one finger chocolate head with short retention time, no lacing. Looks oily and thick. Smells of neapolitan ice cream, presumably that combination of apple brandy sweetness and chocolate working together in concert. Definitely picking up a hefty booziness though. Chocolate, bit of roast rounds things out. Flavour is initially that delicious neapolitan ice cream-like combination. Wonderful, but it quickly transitions to a massive fusel alcohol flavour that warms you up as it goes down. Mouthfeel is fuller bodied, lower carbonation with that aforementioned hefty boozy burn. Otherwise, the taste up front is great and would have liked to see more of that follow through on the backend.

Appearance: Obsidian in color and capped by an inch of beige foam; webby lacing and excellent retention

Smell: Chocolate, oak and faint apple brandy tones

Taste: Rich chocolate flavors, up front, with the apple brandy adding a nice dimension through the middle; the apple brandy builds a bit through the finish, particularly as the beer warms

Mouthfeel: Full bodied, with moderate carbonation

Overall: Very deft use of the barrel on this beer; lives up to the hype

Poured from a 750ml bottle into my trusty Horizon Society teku glass.

Appearance is jet black in color with a frothy chocolate colored head. Just a hint of the apple brandy smell but not too hot. The first sip delivers a great amount of brandy barrel heat as well as the fruity, vanilla, and woody characteristic of the barrel. Very thick beer, and at 13.5% I'm going to be feeling warm after this bottle. Overall, excellent beer. Cheers, Brothers!

Pours a dark black thick color with small tan head. Sweet apple brandy roasted smell. Tastes sweet with caramel and molasses dominating with a strong alcohol finish. A wonderful beer

750 mL bottle. Black body. Smell is strong molasses. Oak. Brandy. Not as sweet smelling as expected. Very boozy, though. The taste has a ton of apple brandy. It's all over. Strong roasted malt. A ton of oak. Heavy and boozy. Small sips are all I can take.

Pours black and thick but not oily like Ten Fidy (the beer does not coat the glass with a residue). Smells of sweet apple brandy and a faint roastiness. Nose is mellow. Taste is not as sweet or apple-y as the nose. Some of the apple brandy and some of the base beer. Melds well. Not overpowering like Prairie's Apple Brandy Noire. Very little booze. Feel is thick but not gooey like a fudge bomb. Overall, this is great. I'm smacking my lips as I write this review. Definite improvement over the base (which is pretty good anyway).

Black in color. Similar to the regular.

The apple brandy provides a nice addition to the base beer. Very smooth and warming. Oaky. Vanilla.

Full bodied.

Well done. Not much different than regular resolute, however.

I thought this was a really tasty variant of Resolute. Lots of caramel, apples, and bitter chocolate. It seems less smokey and roasty than the bourbon barrel version, but still smacks you with a jolt of booze. Nice mouthfeel, solid carb. I think this is up there with Trickery for sure.

Really enjoyed this variant! The apple brandy barrels add a nice change to the base version. Great smell and taste, with a solid mouth feel. Great job!

No bottling date but released in the last month or two.

A: Pitch-black pour with a small fizzy black head. Head dissipates very quickly with no lacing and no head retention.

S: Big barrel character. Lots of sweet boozy dark fruits with a background of toasted sugars. Chocolate and coffee peek through. Plenty of vanilla too.

T: Oh yeah. Huge brandy here. It is sublime. Smooth sweet fruitiness. Primarily it's apples (naturally) but there's some cherries and raisins too. Heavy caramel sweetens it all up. Roasted malt begins to come through midway with some bittersweet chocolate. Light oak joins it in the finish. Long-lingering boozy apples in the aftertaste with hints of that bittersweet dark chocolate still. Apple brandy flavor extends for several minutes after each sip. Very nice.

M: Heavy, smooth and slightly boozy.

O: Damn, that initial apple brandy flavor is easily the best I've had in any brew, ever. It's big, bold and juicy but it also doesn't take over the entire beer. Plenty of roasty character for the later half of the taste. Big strong flavors in this one, all working well together to provide shocking balance. Very impressed by this one.

Motor oil dark BA brandy and caramel come through strong in the nose but not overpowering. .some nice oakiness as well..taste is the apple brandy and caramel (again not overpowering) as well as hints of dark chocolate and vanilla..lite to medium carmination and pretty thick in the exceptional AB stout!

A variation of Resolute using Apple Brandy barrels. Light hints of apple on the nose and taste. Good balance between the RIS base and barrels. Wasn't expecting to like this because I don't like liquor, but I'd probably prefer this over Bourbon barrels any day.

Had on tap at Resolute Release Day. This was rumored to be a variant in the bottle but alas it wasnt. Perhaps a sneak peek for next year. Coconut was fantastic but this was probably the star of the day. Perfect amount of sweet apple brandy notes complimenting the roasty base beer. This is better than Trickery. Great job
