On tap at Extreme Pizza, pours with a generous head, plenty of lacing. I don't know why this isn't rated higher, it's a good solid ipa. Plenty of hops and bite, a bit cloudy, not overly bitter. People should buy this!

A good American IPA. Good hoppiness and effervescence. Slight bitterness on the sides of the tongue. Not overly hopped yet enough to have good flavor and not too heavy to enjoy on a hot day.

A - Poura a hazy burnt orange with a one finger creamy white head. Tons of soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is tangerine, caramel malts and floral hops.

T - The taste is mango, grapefruit, caramel malts and piney hops.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a soft finish.

O - This is a decent traditional ipa. The hops leave a lasting earthy bitterness that lingers a little to long.

A: A golden brown color with a light tan head.

S: Sweet with a lot of caramel and some tropical fruits. Perhaps a hint of simcoe in there.

T: Fairly malt forward for me with caramel and bread notes, but also a decent amount of bitterness in the form of grapefruit, and tropical notes.

M: Medium to medium thick in body with moderate carbonation.

O: Overall a little more malt centric than other beers of the same style at the moment, but it does remind me of what IPA's tasted like 5 years ago.

The options were limited at Reagan National in DC so I ordered this. Poured orangey amber with a haze that made it opaque. No head at all, left almost no lacing. Nose was faint, light indiscernible fruit and floral aromas. The flavor was interesting, savory with notes of caraway and garlic in front of malty sweetness. Not very bitter for an IPA. Yeast esters were hardly noticeable but provided some acidity. The mouthfeel was slightly creamy and gave a sense of plum and cherry skins ending with a carbonated prickle. Finish was short with the same odd garlicky flavors fading into floral hoppiness. Wasn’t bad, but won’t be one I’ll seek out again.

Pours a hazy, amber orange color with a fluffy, couple finger thick white head. Smell is floral notes, some citrus, and a hint of pine. Some small notes of mango, herbal hints, a little malt backbone, and some grass. Body is a little heavy, moderate carbonation, dry finish. It's nice, feels a little uneven but not terribly so. Solid enough.

12 ounce bottle with a bottling date of Sept. 2017.

Appearance: Pours with a hazy amber body with a semi-durable white head. Ample sticky lacing gets left on the glass.

Aroma: Fruity and floralt notes.

Flavor: Low bitterness for style. The hops create a nice mix of floral, herbal, grassy and fruity notes.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Smooth, soft finish.

Pretty good beer, overall. The pour is a hazy golden color with a smell that is a delicious balance of pine and some citrus. The taste is incredibly similar to the smell, but with a resinous punch.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a thick, cloudy consistency. There was a massive, foamy / creamy, extremely long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.

S: A decent aroma of hops, light fruit, malt, and a pine element.

T: Tasted of a surprising amount of light fruit (mango, in particular), some light malt notes, a bit pine mixed in, a fair amount of grassy hops (not overly so. a bready quality. A bit grassier than it should be, this is a solid flavor. Quite lively and surprisingly powerful, in spite of its flaws.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a mostly dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: An interesting, if somewhat uneven IPA. Worth trying and drinkable.

12 oz

Pours a moderately cloudy orange gold, pillowy white head retains well.

Smells of cracker malts, honey, and bright fruity citrus and hops. Grapefruit and orange juice.

Tastes of bready malt, grapefruit, pine, and honey. Hint of saltiness.

Medium to full body, fluffy tingly carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

Beautiful looking brew with great aroma. Flavor is a bit more pedestrian with a hint of something off in the aftertaste. Body is med. Worth a try, close to great but there's something likely unintentional in the flavor that shouldn't be there. It doesn't ruin the beer, just undermines it a bit.

Definitely not what I'd call balanced. This is an American IPA through and through. Piney and green with just the slightest hint of mango, but not much of a my presence. If you like an IPA that let's the bitterness site on your tongue for days, this is your beer.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a hazy, orange-gold coloring, with a slow roll of carbonation feeding a tall, bubbly clingy, off-white head. Aromas are rich on tropical fruit, with pineapple, mango, and melon leading the charge, followed by a spiced and grassy hops component. Flavors are tropical fruit forward, again leading with pineapple and melon, with some more citrus notes coming in now, too. Grapefruit tart and sweet adds another layer, which all balances with peppery and evergreen hops notes. The body is light and effervesced, but soft throughout. The aftertaste has more of the evergreen hops component in it, with subtle herbal notes. This beer transitions from fruity to vegetal as you drink. The finish is effervesced and slightly frothy, with a lingering herbal and floral hops component. Interesting take on the IPA.

Impressive, dome-like head that never recedes completely. Less than expected lace, but there's more than a few lumpy spots on the glass. Lightly cloudy with a darker gold color.

Crystal malt/caramel aroma initially. Lighter, but pleasantly floral, hop nose. Nice blend even if it leans to the malt, which is similar to the British version but the hop is American.

The taste is rougher than the smell. The hop bitterness is straight up black pepper. The soft crystal malt is missing in the flavor. It's like drinking a different beer. There's a touch of earthiness. Long, raw hop aftertaste.

Bottled date 12 Feb 2016 (stamped on bottle and hard to read).

Cloudy honey, almost apricot color with tall thick cream head. Nose of fruity hops with some resinous hops secondary, bready malt beneath. Taste a rich combination of delicious hops and creamy soft malts, a little sweet. Thick and delicious. Mouthfeel clean, smooth, not as heavy as appearance might suggest, and pleasant. Aftertaste hoppy like many IPAs.

Bottled 1/26/16 (roughly a week old)

Grabbed a sixer when I heard about recipe updates. I loved this beer when I first tired it a year or two ago.

Look- nice pale hue, promises not to be overly malty

Smell- nice hop aroma, I heard rumors of additional dry hopping as part of the update. I'm an aroma hop nut so it's never enough for me but I was very happy here.

Taste- great balance between bitterness and the malt bill. Nice piney notes, more classic west coast influence. It's clearly still Hoptimization even with the updates.

Feel- mouthfeel is the most noticeable improvement from the recipe updates. It's everything I want from a malt bill that doesn't include wheat or oat flakes.

Overall- small changes to an already great beer that have taken it to the next level.

Kudos to Brothers for striving for excellence.

Grab a fresh sixer when you see one.

Cheers!

Bottle #4 from the six-pack I picked up a week or so ago. Bottling date is January 19th, 2016 so still super fresh.

Color is a nice dark gold, bordering on orange in places; it's hazy but not opaque, and with the help of a flashlight (or just holding it up to a light) I can see some bubbles rising up from the bottom. Decent layer of white foam on top, which shrinks down to a thin cap on the surface after a couple minutes, leaving a thicker ring around the edges, a few thicker spots with some big bubbles, and a few trails on the sides. The foam leaves pretty substantial lacing along the sides as the glass empties out.

Smell is some piney-ish hops right away, followed by a blend of malt and spiciness that comes across as a little cedar-y in combination with the pine. A bit of slightly sweetish fruitiness in there too. On further sniffs, I'm also reminded of those bagels or bread loaves that come with onion bits, sesame seeds, poppyseeds, etc. coating the top. It's a nice smell overall.

Taste is very similar to the smell -- piney/spicy hop blend (maybe a teeny bit grapefruit-y as well?), with lightly toasty bread-crust malt, and a bit of sweetness mixed in there too, often blending in with the slight citrusy flavor from the hops. Definitely still reminds me of those bagels I mentioned in the smell section, but that's not a bad thing at all since I really like those bagels. XD

Feel is really nice. Not too light, some noticeable carbonation but it's never prickly; there's a bit of a thicker/heftier sort of feel to this one, which I find to be appropriate for the ABV, strength of flavors, and hazy appearance. I remember taking note of this when I had a sample as part of a flight at the brewery too, so I'm guessing that's a pretty consistent thing for this beer even though the exact flavors and smells might not be (it mentions right on the bottle that they alter the recipe from time to time, using a rotating blend of hops.) As nice as the taste is, the mouthfeel may actually be my favorite part of this one.

Overall, this is a tasty beer that I'm glad to have around (and especially glad that I was able to stumble across such a fresh six-pack of; living within barely over an hour's drive of the brewery probably helps with that) -- definitely not a "pure hop juice" IPA so it may not meet your expectations if that's your thing, but fans of a more balanced IPA that's hoppy but still has a malt presence to it should enjoy this one.

Another beginner IPA. I picked it up on sale at Bucket Trade. Looked pretty hazy and had a ton of head after my pour. Flavor was decent. Hops, citrus and malt. I'd like to try it on tap.

Pours a golden copper color with somewhat solid head little retention, but was poured by an inexperienced server in my hotel lounge into a FROSTED SHAKER GLASS (UGH). I was watching the Steelers game and did not realize until she was halfway through the pour..oh well.

Aroma of malt and grapefruit.. maybe other faint citrus fruits. Resin-y.

Flavor is definitely grapefruit heavy but with a more than solid, somewhat sweet malt character. ALmost too balanced. Other citrus in the background.

Mouthfeel is med light and resin-y. Moderate carbonation is perfect.

Overall a definite west coast wanna-be but in a good way. I would not turn this down in the future. Very decent beer.

I tried this 7.1% ABV IPA on tap first and it was great.

Look-It has a golden honey amber color with medium clarity and a thin film head that produces delicate and moist white lacing on the glass.

Smell-It has a strong malt backbone with an overlay of citrus and lemon hops with a tinge of grassy characteristics.

Taste-The taste follows the nose with more hop resins and citrus than I expected. The malts are toasted sweet malts that are ever present.

Mouthfeel-Medium-bodied piney feel/taste with a bit less carbonation than I would have liked.

Overall-I think this is a great IPA, but could use a couple minor tweaks to improve it, but nothing too major.

Picked up a 6 of this while at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA. Also on tap at one of their restaurants! Poured a couple into a large hard plastic Starbucks cup with straw and enjoyed by the pool. Nice IPA offering from a local brewery just up the road. I'll have this one again if I can locate closer to home.

12oz bottle into a shaker pint.

A: pours a slightly hazy peach/copper with 1/2" white head that sits down immediately. Retention & lacing are solid.

S: Mild aromas of grassy hops & faint lemon/orange rind. A touch of crackery malt.

T: Grapefruit bomb! Big, big bitter citrus with a resinous quality underneath. Mid palate is more crackery malt before leading back into solid bitterness on the lingering finish. Not amazingly complex but very effective & tasty as can be.

M: Carb is just a skootch on the low side. Body is fairly rich malt with a soap/resin slant. Finishes oddly dry.

O: Really impressive little VA IPA!

Great beer. It won't hurt any craft lover. At begining has strong taste but goes out fast so
it did not fill me up after one glass/bottle. Is definitively IPA but not agressive. Great for summer night, not daytime party. One of things, beside I love beer, why I drink craft beer is for probiotic value. I felt this non-pasteurized beer deep in stomach similar to my own home brewed beer. It was excelent choice buy this beer. Hope I will visit brewery/restaurant one day.

Pouring from a bottle to a standard american pint glass-

A: Light copper, no head whatsoever in the pour. Beer could be a little old.
S: Not much to take in, getting some malts and maybe just a small hint of something piney
T: Good malt/hop balance in the front, and a nice bitterness in the back. Getting the pine for sure. Getting more bitter as I drink it and i really really like that but still has some balance in the end. getting some alcohol in there pretty heavily.
M:Not too much carbonation, has a bit of a pungency that the hops are revealing on the top of my mouth. The bottom of my mouth is unaffected.
O:- A decent IPA.

This beer is a little inconsistent from batch to batch. The unpredictability keeps me from really making this my go to beer.
