Poured moderately hard from a bottle into a snifter glass, forming a couple fingers of tan head that faded to some lacing. Light brown color, somewhat translucent. Smells of slightly sweet malt, a bit similar to some milk stouts. Flavor is similar, with malt coming first, a bit of sweetness, ending with a brief roasty flavor. Very simple and drinkable. Pretty light body with minimal carbonation. A good solid every day porter.

Pours a solid black color with a light tan head about a finger thick, pillowy in nature, fades slowly. Smells of roasted malts and cocoa powder. Taste is slightly dark chocolate, coffee, and a little dark fruit towards the finish. Nice, medium body that finishes fairly cleanly. Nice beer, I'd certainly buy this one again.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass

A- slow pour produces a foamy head that fills 3/4 of the glass and remains long after the pour, looks over carbonated

S- roasted malt, light cocoa powder, a bit earthy, sweet caramel

T- slightly smoky roasted malt gives flavors of chocolate and caramel, hints of coffee and dark fruit on the finish

M- medium body with high carbonation leads to a over-foamy mouthfeel that continues to the finish

O- a tasty porter, but a bit one dimensional. Seemed over-carved as well

Bottled on 11/18/14. Brought back from Harrisonburg from my most trusted beer mule for hire that ventures into Virginia on regular basis. Incredible looking porter with enormous head (on conservative pour) into a 16oz Sam Smit pint glass that I had to use a knife to knock off the top of numerous times and had to wait 5 minutes to drink. Nice smell, and the taste is very unique. There is a mix of sweetness and roast flavor that is so perfectly balanced in this porter/stout of a beer. Full body and overall its a must have for fans of lighter stout/porter styles.

Nice looking porter!

Pours a nearly opaque black, with a nice, fluffy, tan head. The nose could be a little stronger, but I do get some coffee and a little bit of chocolate. It tastes like a nice, solid, robust porter. The alcohol is well hidden and the coffee and chocolate come through more in the flavor than they did with the nose. I'd prefer more body as I found the mouthfeel the slightest bit on the thin side, but this was a pretty good beer!
