I had low expectations of this beer because of the clear bottle. Pours deep amber with a very nice white foam head. Smell is complex, yeasty and malty. Taste is very good, a very malty ale, almost no hops flavor and low bitterness. Very nice beer.

A: The body is made of a beautiful copper colour along with a 1 finger white head with some retention. No lacing. This bottle specifically was full of solids which is a total downside to its appearance.
S: This is a german beer but reminds me more of a belgian styled beer. The smell is not prominent, you can barerly feel the yeast mixed with the alcohol and sometimes you can a really small touch of hops.
T: The taste is mostly poor having a flat taste that resembles nothing but beer. Actually, I think that this beer may not be in its best state. I have it in my fridge since 4 to 5 months ago.
M: The gasification does not seem natural, but you already know that it is. I don't know how to describe this but it seems that the yeast belongs to a strain that's not great at building gasification on this beer, and on many other lagers.
O: I'd say that this bottle is not in its best conditions. But if it is, I won't regard this beer as any good - much like the BA's that have already reviewed this beer.

A: St. Erhard pours a clear burnt orange with a 2.5 finger head of tightly formed white bubbles, decent glass lacing appears as the head dissipates and the beer is consumed. No alcohol legs are apparent.

S: Sweet malt, caramel, lager yeast and mild floral, earthy hops round out the nose.

T: Follows the nose, sweet malt, caramel, lager yeast and mild floral, earthy hops round out the Very well done, but a bit on the sweet side.

M: Light-bodied with smooth carbonation and finish. Very easy to drink and refreshing.

O: St. Erhard, is sort of a cross between a Kellerbier and a Zwickelbier. Thus, I would classify St. Erhard as a modern interpretation of a Kellerbier because it is filtered, carbonated, less bitter, more malt forward and balanced like a Zwickel or Zoiglbier as opposed to a traditional Kellerbier. This was probably the aim from go especially since the beer was meant to enter the beer flavor dead zones of India and China. The beer palates in these regions are probably not ready for extreme flavors.

In a nutshell, though St. Erhard is not a pure Kellerbier, it is a quality brew that preforms very well as the flavorful, unoffensive gateway beer for new craft beer consumers as intended. This coupled with the sexed up, innovative packaging employing an anti-UV glass coating make St. Erhard and interesting beer worth trying. If available, I would drink this beer again and consider it an excellent session beer that would pair well with a broad range of food types.

Appearance: Dark golden orange like crisp look bright and clean. Head is thick silky white two finger going on two & half tall, slowly dissipates.
Smell: Nice fresh beer smell with malty, light fruity, slight hop smell.
Taste: Crisp, clean, refreshing, malty light sweetness, very light fruity, and slight hop flavor. Well balanced flavor.
Mouthfeel: clean, crisp, refreshing, not watery, somewhat silky.
Overall: This is a beer that ladies and the guys should enjoy. Not hopped up, not overly malty or sweet, just a well balanced beer and smooth. The flavor has an unmistakably German flare and is a good representation of the Kellerbier style.

St. Erhard has a very thick, rocky, off-white head and a clear, fairly bubbly, orange-gold appearance, with some thick, splotchy lacing left behind. The aroma is faint, but one can detect a standardized beer aroma. Taste is of medium-roasted barley malt, a subtle caramel, and mild, balancing hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and St. Erhard finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, mild, and drinkable. Overall, this is really enjoyable, and I think the drinker will like it.

.33l clear bottle. Best before 2013. Pours a translucent copper with no head, just a tight band around the edges and some soapy slicks. Nose reveals caramel, skunk and noble hops. Taste is watery and skunky with dull caramel notes and some earthiness attributable to hops. Mouthfeel is light in body (a bit thin) with an even, somewhat subdued carbonation. Overall, fairly bland and a little skunky. I continue to wonder why brewers bottle in clear glass.
