Not very good, but it's my last state tick, so there's that at least!

Not a fan at all. Tastes exactly like chocolate milk poured into beer with a little coffee mixed in. Very intense flavor and smell. Strongest Porter I have ever tasted. Almost tastes like watered down cappuccino. If you love Porters, this is the beer for you. I am more of a recreational Porter drinker though so it is too intense for my tastes.

Very balanced coffee and chocolate up front but the tail end is left wanting.

Mystery Romp has a medium, quickly-dying, beige head, tiny ascending bubbles, a dark-brown, nearly black, appearance, and almost no lacing left behind. The aroma is of dark-roasted malt, char, black coffee, baker’s chocolate, and toast crust. Taste is of all that, with acidity and burnt bitterness closing out the sip. Mouthfeel is rather thin and oddly prickly. Mystery Romp finishes semi-dry.

I'll give it points for being the only of it's kind made locally, but have had more balanced coffee beers that aren't as overpowering

Black with a nice dark head. Great smell. Roasted chocolate and coffee. Taste is unbalanced. First taste I get is water. Some slight bitterness and a spot of chocolate. Feel is closer to an ipa than porter/stout. Carbonation just a bit too sharp.

Draft version felt thin in the mouth. Bottled version feels proper for a porter. Strongest actual flavors of coffee and chocolate I have ever tasted in a beer, though in no way overpowering. May be my favorite porter now. Can pair with desserts though not much sweetness.

"When the lights dim, the curtains pull back, and the Beledi starts, it is time for a Mystery Rom! This mocha colored ale, with chocolate and coffee, can best be described as a tasteful dance between a robust porter and a rich stout." Brewed in the style of an American Porter, available in 12 oz. bottled 6 packs and on year-round draft.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a snifter glass.

(Appearance) Pours a fizzy, crisp head of a mocha brown tone over a very dark brown body. Retention is poor and lacing is light and spotty. 3.25

(Smell) Rich light roast coffee with vanilla cream notes, smooth caramel candy malts atop a lightly roasted and bread malt background. Very sweet and incredibly decadent aroma with a moderate potency. 4

(Taste) Dry bread malts, lightly roasted coffee beans and subtle vanilla cream, much less sweet than in the aroma. Light delivery but very flavorful specialty malt and adjunct profile. 3.75

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, silky, lightly chewy, medium dry. Carbonation is modest, generating a light frothiness and a medium crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, medium/heavy overall. Balance is nicely balanced specialty malt and roasted coffee bitterness to sweet malts. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.5

(Overall) A very richly flavored porter with a very solid coffee flavor. A bit light on the malt profile but a very drinkable porter nonetheless. A very solid beer by this brewery, certainly their finest year-round that I have experienced yet. 3.75

Pours a dark brown with a light brown head that dissipates quickly, light lacing. Nose is tremendous with cocoa nibs and coffee coming through beautifully. The taste not so much, a real watery mess. Medium to high carbonation. Overall was hoping for more flavor here

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is strong of coffee, some chocolate as well. Taste is bitter coffee up front, sweet chocolate at the finish. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a fine beer, especially if you enjoy coffee.

Pours black with a tan head. Smells of coffee/mocha, bitter chocolate and dark roast malts. Tastes of dark malts with a charred edge, coffee, a light astringence, some hop bitterness. Medium/light body, medium carbonation, chocolate and dark malt aftertaste. Very nice aroma and flavor, a little light on body.
