So much potential here. Looks great, silky creamy head that does not go away. Unusual Amber color. But hopes were lost after trying. Something wrong here. Just tastes off and nothing like a hop forward Ale, more like a sour fruit concoction. No readable date on bottle so can't tell if skunked. If they would just add readable bottle dates then these things could be avoided. Drain dump.

Pours a dark Amber with a tan head.

In the nose is bready caramel malt with pine and earthy hops.

It has a pine and bitter herb punch up front that gives way and is dominated by a Carmel bread malt flavor that is sticky and hangs around. This is a good beer but leaning heavy away from the style.

"This variant spelling of the Roma people and their infamous vardo-pulling horses, full of flash and fortitude, inspired our take on this classic style. We can related to the lifestyle of traveling and music! This well balanced, full-bodied, American India Pale Ale treats your palate to a fusion of extreme hoppiness and sweet caramel malts!" Brewed in the style of an American India Pale Ale, available in 12 oz. bottled 6 packs and on year-round draft.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a tulip glass.

(Appearance) Pours a caramel-creme head of a frothy foam consistency over a moderately hazy copper body with ample specked sediment, light carbonation. Retention is good and lacing is light and patchy. 3.75

(Smell) Bread malts and light grain caramel syrups, slightly nutty nose, with mild bitter fruity, lightly piney, and earthy hop notes. Aromatically, leans a bit more towards the English styles of India Pale Ales, potency is moderate. 3.25

(Taste) Rich nutty, bread malt and caramel grain syrups body, with a moderate bitterness of pine and earth, slightly soapy. Pretty tasty, fairly rich malt body on this IPA. 3.25

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, lightly chewy, medium dry. Carbonation is moderate, generating a light frothiness and a medium crisp finish. Body is medium+ for the style, medium overall. Balance is slightly earthy, nutty and piney bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.5

(Overall) A decent, earthy and malt-driven IPA with an equally brazen hop bitterness. I wasn't very impressed with the dimension of hop flavor, however. While it's becoming increasingly difficult to craft a standout American IPA, this beer strays from the most commonly brewed IPA ingredients, focusing on a maltier balance with a good bit of edge. 3.25

Tons of apple presence in the taste and smell which is generally a sign of ethanol that has been oxidized forming actedaldehyde. Not bad, IMO, just not used to an apple IPA.

Yikes! Gipsy IPA has a thin, off-white head, a murky, green-orange-brown appearance, with big, tan yeast chunks all about. The aroma is of sweet & sour sauce, old bread, turned fruit, caramel, and acid. Taste is of all that, with some off-the-wall and unusual bitterness, cellar mold, and rotten melon rind. Mouthfeel is medium and slimy, and Gipsy IPA finishes wet and sloppy.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a pretty amber color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of citrus, some malts. Taste is well balanced hops and malts, some pine, light bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid and enjoyable beer.

4 for the bottled version, 3 for the draft. The bottled clearly has significantly more malt and brings the taste profile, combined with the abv, more into Arrogant Bastard territory. The draft version does not have enough malt to balance the hops and comes across as a thin, hop-dominated brew.

Pours amber color with off-white head in mug at local burger joint. Good bit of sticky white lacing along sides of glass afterward.

Smell is light sweet malts with slight hint of hoppy citrus. Really not as much hop character as I was hoping.

Taste was sweet and malty up front. A bit of musty hop bitterness follows. Maybe a hint of pineapple. A little too bitter and not really a good citrus bitterness like other IPAs. Not terrible but just not that well balanced.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied. Average carbonation.

Overall this was o.k., but wouldn't seek it out again unless the recipe changes some.
