Released December 2, 2013. Best before April 16, 2015. Another beer that I’ve found way back in my beer cellar. It has been brewed with Mackmyra smoked malt. The beer pours clear, mahogny red-brown with a one finger high head that doesn’t leave any lacing.

Nose: A lot of smoke, charcuterie, oak and caramel.
Taste: Sweet taste, a little to sweet. Caramel, oak, smoked ham, brown sugar and wood.
Mouth: Medium body. Light carbonation. Sweet, to sweet ending.

Nope. I like rauchbier but this is too sweet for me.

The colour is deep brown (70 EBC), the liquid is clear. The finger thick head is is beige and compact. It sinks slowly leaving little lacing.

Smoke dominates the smell, it is more like delicatessen (Italian salami) than wood fire. Salty notes and hints of juniper wood and seaweed. It is a bit sharp, though.

The taste starts with some chocolate flavours. Then, salty notes and smoke emerges. Delicatessen, mostly salami and beer sausages. The smoke fades, leaves room for some dusty brown malts. Medium body. The aftertaste got some salt and smoke, dried flowers and wood fire. The finish is dusty with some smoke.

The carbonation is mild, the small bubbles are long-lived. The liquid is semi-smooth.

Unbalanced and quite dry. Too much dust and salt compared to the originals from Franconia.
