The colour is black (100 EBC); the four finger head is beige and airy. It sinks slowly to a thick lid leaving some lacing.
The smell is semi-sweet with roasted malt and grains. Distinct alcohol. Soap-like phenols, some Christmas spices and nuts. Chocolate and candied oranges.
The taste is rather bitter with passing soapy notes. Roasted malt with some tart notes, pumpernickel and chocolate cookies. Spices like cloves, allspice and nutmeg. Medium body. The aftertaste got growing notes of hot alcohol, soap, very dark bread, coffee and some smoke in the background. The finish is milder with salty chocolate and Christmas spices.
The carbonation is very strong; the large short-lived bubbles tickles my tongue. The liquid is rather light for this kind of strong beer.
Too much soap, too hot alcohol, not enough balance.

Hi, my first review here. I bought the Belgian Stout from ST: Eriks bryggeri here in Sweden. I tend to only drink Belgian beer, however I felt like buying this one for a try. The look of this bottle is very nice, quite different compared to others. When pouring I poured it very slowly and got a very beautiful DARK colour of the beer, smell was very good of a STRONG smell of licorice and dark chocolate. The taste however is very blend and poor, the beer it self was very "watery" and "soft". Difficult to explain. Overall it is an little bit so-so beer. I bought two, so I will give the other one end of the week. Thanks
