16 ounce can - $2.50 at Tasty Beverage Co. in Asheville, North Carolina.
Appearance: Pours out a very, very faintly yellow-tinted body, subtly hazed, though not much head.
Smell: Watermelon, natch.
Taste: It's watermelon! There's really not much given up by the scant maltiness, but, hey, that's okay - it's watermelon! Nil hop character or bitterness. Lightly sweet, fruity finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: It kind of hit the spot at the end of a near-100 degree day here in Atlanta.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale yellow in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and some faint lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a quarter finger tall fizzy off-white head that reduces to a medium to large sized patch of mottled very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.
S: A moderate to heavy aroma of freshly cut watermelon (all natural, nothing artificial or like a Jolly Rancher here). Almost a slightly subtle hint of cucumber in the background.
T: Upfront there is a light flavor of grainy and pale malts that is quickly followed by moderate flavors of freshly cut watermelon. Minimal amounts of sweetness and just a hint of bitterness which fades almost immediately. Just a very subtle hint of cucumber in the background.
M: Just heavier than light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin but slick.
O: I enjoyed this offering since the watermelon tastes and smells quite natural (no artificial Jolly Rancher-like characteristics here) with just a hint of cucumber as well. Enjoyable and easy to drink.

From a can at the Burning Can Festival (NC)
A mild lager with conservative (flavor-wise) use of watermelon yet impressive. Clean and refreshing with a surprisingly dry finish. Lots of pale malt flavor.

Appearance: clear, sunny, bone-white head.
Aroma: musk, bread, wheat.
Taste: bread crust, pale malt sweetness, almond.
Mouthfeel: light, slick, clean body.
Overall: there's really no watermelon I can notice. Nothing special about this and really isn't even that refreshing...

Watermelon beers miss for me.
21st Amendment's Watermelon Wheat misses on the same grounds as this one. The watermelon always comes off as flat.
This beer is missing the salty, fresh characteristic of watermelon.
A hint to Deep River: Turn this beer into a Gose.
On a second tasting, added a bit of flaked, kosher salt. The beer improved markedly.
This rating is for the beer without the salt.
Better than Budweiser would have done with the concept, but still a flat, uninteresting lager.

16oz can poured into a pint
Pours a clear straw color with a small fizzy white head that disappears after sticking around a while. Smells of fermented watermelon, grains & hay. Tastes of grains, toasted malt and light watermelon juice. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation and a crisp finish. Pretty simple and straight forward, goes down easy on the beach though

Poured from a tallboy into a shaker pint, the beer is a pale, hazy, straw gold coloring with a steady, slow flow of carbonation throughout the body. No head. Aromas of subtle watermelon tangy sweetness, subtle toasted grains, and candy sweet. Flavors are watermelon juice forward, with a sugar candy undertone, toasted grain backbone, and a subtle (other) melon blending. This actually has a very legit watermelon characteristic throughout, and doesn't taste syrup heavy or over-sugary like other watermelon brews. Well done. The body is smooth, but has an initial sharpness to get past. Of course, with the high drinkability, that sharpness dulls down fairly quickly. Tangy sweet melon fruit aftertaste, with a smooth, clean finish. This is a crushable summer brew. Very tasty!
