One of the most suggested bars by the locals...

Located in the trendy Blackstone district of Omaha, NE, this bar has the good dive-bar feel right from the moment you walk in. Tastefully decorated with wood, and with most everything to either belly up or sit on is wood, there is nothing very trendy nor hipster about the place - and I love it.

Decent selection of craft brew, good local selection, they have a lower level that has a more German feel open at night.

The service is heartland friendly, and the local flies are friendly as well. A definite stop if you’re ever in the area.

I have been spending more time in Omaha for work and have had this place on my radar for some time. Imagine my surprise and delight when my customer suggested we go here for some post work food and drinks.

We parked in back and walked around to the front entrance. We walked past the smallish bar and grabbed a table in the back.

Our waitress was quick with menus and then beers.

I had several of the Nebraska beers that I can’t get near me. Beer selection was good with plenty of breweries and styles to pick from. My drafts were all in good shape as it appears they take care of their lines and turn beers over quickly.

The food was decent and I liked my pork sandwich. The pork was way too large for the bun and it came with a good horseradish sauce.

They had a great crowd for a Monday evening, so I’m not the only one who thinks they are doing something right. Unfortunately, the downstairs German bar was closed. Maybe next time?

I will never go to Nebraska again without stopping at Crescent Moon. The best beer I ever had came out of cask there, and it pains me to say that I drank so many others after it, that I couldn't recall the name of the cask beer!! Also the best pub food I've ever had. Try the deep fried green peppers!

Perhaps the premier craft drinking experience in Omaha, with a ton of taps and bottles to choose from. This place had Founders Devil Dancer on tap, a beer I had never even seen on this side of the Mississippi, no less the Missouri. Servers really know their beer which is no surprise, as next door is the best beer store within perhaps a 500 mile radius. Outstanding.

One of my favorite bars to go to in Omaha, Ne. Great tap list and bottle selection. 2 other bars and a bottle shop all attaches making this an all around great experience. Also the food is too notch, blu burger is my favorite. The crescent moon is an awesome place to go wether your just going to hang out and grab a beer or party with a group of people. The service is awesome and everyone working there is very nice and knowledgable about their beers and menu.

My wife and I stopped by here on a trip back home over the winter holiday.

We were there on a Thursday night and this place was packed. Felt really nice - warm - being in a bar full of people.

Quality of the brews were phenomenal. The place itself was tidy and comfortable.

Service was excellent. We were in and out in under an hour.

Selection was great. They had quite a bit of stuff from the smaller regional breweries.

Food was delicious and reasonably priced.

If you find yourself in or passing through Omaha, this should be on your list.

To start with, Crescent is part of a complex of beer bars. There's the Uber Haus downstairs, the Belgian bar through a hallway, and Beertopia bottle shop next door. So yeah, really the best building in Omaha, if you ask me :) It's a little compound of beery goodness.

Crescent has amazingly good prices for draft beer, especially on their happy hours and special nights, which are every weeknight basically. There's a Boulevard night, a New Belgium night, a free pint glass night, .40cent wings, half price apps, etc.

Two of us can get dinner and two beers a piece and our bill's only $20. That's what I'm talkin' bout!

Tap list is really nice, over 20 taps I believe, with local goodies as well as a good Colorado showing (Odells, NBelgium, boulder, etc) and goodies from farther away.
Food is damn fine for pub grub, and service has been good the last three times we've been. It's become a new favorite for the wife and I...she has like 6 IPA's to choose from and me with my saison or whatever tickles my fancy that night. Good locals vibe.

I was in town for the CWS we went to the beer corner for everything I found the staff friendly and knowledgeable and using proper glasses and washing and even had a glass sprayer to wet the draft glasses. I went on a few nights while i was in Omaha and found all the bars there to be original! I do have to hand it to this place it is one of the best bars i have been in the Monks Café was flowing and I couldn't get enough of it! One night was Boulevard pint night and a very good deal buy the glass and 2 buck boulevard fills. The food was quite good my largest recommendation is to go down stairs and get a few real hot German pretzels! Great place great people!

For the Midwest, this is an excellent beer bar to go to. They have a very good selection of draft and bottles, and large seasonal rotation.

There is a rowdy German style bar downstairs from the main bar, selling German beer (watch out for Das Boot - $16), and a Belgian Bar in the room next to it selling Belgian beer.

All the beers I had were fresh and served in the correct glassware. Prices were quite reasonable, considering the quality of the beer being served.

My Reuben sandwich was excellent (they blurb on the menu said the Reuben was created across the street). Substitute your side for onion rings and thank me later.

I might be new to this website but I am not new to craft beer or craft beer in Nebraska. I was a long time Moon regular but things are not the same anymore. I know enough of the details (key people leaving and other private matters) and I am not going to post them here. What once was the best beer bar in Omaha has fallen at time as the competition has risen. The Moon is not the only kid on the block or the top dog any longer. Jake's in Benson, Brass Monkey in South Omaha, The Foundation in downtown and Library Pub in NW Omaha are all in the mix for best beer bar in Omaha (or at least a good alternative to the Moon). Still, it doesn't matter as the BEST beer bar in Nebraska is Bricktop in Lincoln. Period.

Yes, the tap selection is very good at the Moon but years of seeing the same old Boulevard/New Belgium beers renders 8-10 taps pointless. Sure, no BMC but plenty of common craft beers on-tap. Bottles of American craft beer tend to get old in the back cooler, stick to draft. Also, fear clear and green bottle beers too (I've smelled skunked Stella across the bar). Hell, even some of the taps have produced off beer and if it is the taps it is the half-ass job the bartenders do cleaning the glasses. I've had more than a few no head retention, soapy tasting beers. I'm tired of it.

The service has gone downhill a mile over the last few years. I think I know why but I'm not posting it here. Let's just say the quality of help has fallen. Good people have left... some fired from what I've been told. Slow table service (especially during the day); bitchy waitress... really poor service. Also don't be shocked if your server or bartender is tipsy (if not drunk) if you come at night. Doing shots, stepping out to smoke and flat out ignoring patrons is also common now. I remember 5 years ago or so... this was not the norm at the Moon then but it sure is now. The young college crowd is taking over this bar. It is a drunkfest.

Okay pub grub food... they can turn out some good dishes and they can crank out some duds too. The food at, say, Oktoberfest is awesome. Day to day... more hit or miss.

The Moon reminds me of John's Grocery in Iowa City. Yes, they are cool places that have been around a bit and because of that regulars overlook all the flaws and all the shortcomings. They ignore how good it once was. I was bummed about the Moon's fall but not anymore. I have choices now and I am thrilled to frequent them. Bye Crescent Moon, you might see me on occasion but as a regular not so much. Your lack of carrying about your customers is obvious. The King is falling...

My favorite bar in Omaha.

I love the constantly changing line-up and the fact they don't clutter a single tap with BMC. They have great connections with CO breweries so there is a constant influx of hard to locate beers on tap that no other bar except maybe the Brass Monkey have kegs of the various Yetis from Great Divide and I love how North Coast's Old Rasputin is always on tap.

They also have some great brewfest events from Sunfest to Extreme BeerFest. Last fall they had a great beer release of DFH/SA Life and Limb.

The food is definitely above average for bar food. I've eaten a variety of dishes and have never been disappointed with the freshness or preparation of the food.

The best part is that the Crescent Moon is part of a much larger complex with a Belgium bar and beer store next door along with a German bar in the basement.

All the staff are very friendly and I always enjoy my monthly visits there. The only downside is that there are times when the service speed is slow. Slow on getting orders in or delivering the beer. Having said that, many bars have slow service but when coupled with the outstanding beer and food selection, The Moon is a great bar with a great experience.

No place in Omaha and maybe the country can top the Crescent Moon for Beer. They are the Grandaddy of them all. They made it possible for others to exist here in Omaha.

31 Beers on tap all Craft or Import and NO BUDMILOORS!!!....but the are little heavy in there allocation of taps towards certain brewer's. 4 Boulevard, 4 New Belgium at all times!!! They have a leaning towards is what I would consider the (Becks, Guinness, Stella i.e, regular dreck of Micros) One of two taps will be one of those exceptional crafts. I.E Unibrowe, Big Sky, Ska, Sierra offerings.

The atmosphere is like that of Peanuts in K.C but not as grungy or a dive bar version of Applebee's

The food is exceptional and reasonably price. Pub food not foo foo. The Ruben was invented across the street and is awesome and you have to try the twice baked potato soup.

The service SUCKS!!!! The staff are a bunch of pretenders. 97% of the staff know nothing about beer really. Some that think the know about beer and B.S. really well about it. Consider yourself fortunate to see your server at a table under 15 mins....if they are not busy doing shots, texting, playing the crack machine, or outside smoking. This is not some passing statement here...let's just say I have witnessed it well over ten years regular patronizing the place. In short I don't sit at the tables but I sit at the bar and have spotty service there. There are only a few talent and knowledgeable bartenders so don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.

You are not going there for the service you are going there for beer and great food in a fun frat party atmosphere.

This is a great bar / ale house and probably the best one in the area. We have traveled here a couple times just to visit this place. It's also connected to the best beer store in the city, Beertopia. Huge selection in the store of which about a quarter is available in the bar. Also you can bring beers over from the store for a moderate corking fee of $4 (about the average price for a tap beer). The main part of the bar is mostly beer with some liquor available also and is a regular american bar with decent food available at a reasonable price. It is a three part bar with one downstairs being a german bar with strictly german beers and live music and one connected by a doorway being a belgian bar with only belgian beers. Great place to visit and I would recommend it to anyone who happens to make their way through Omaha. Easy to get a hotel close by (downtown) and take the shuttle back and forth so that makes the experience even better when you can stay all night and enjoy as much beer as you like with a free ride back.

The food really is great. The beer selection is the best in Omaha, the bartenders are knowledgeable (the owner is usually even around), and the atmosphere is a lot of fun (especially in the German beer hall downstairs)... but the food adds to the experience - everything from sandwiches to flat bread pizzas. This is the best bar in Omaha, and should be frequented whenever possible. The recent addition/opening of Max & Joe's Belgian style bar really adds to the experience. I also love that they constantly have something new on tap. Right now, try the Sierra Nevada Brown Saison. It's a great temporary addition, and they even serve it in a pint glass.

Parking in lot behind building.

Clean older building with bar in center with tables for food and beverages in the back and strairs down to Huber Haus.

Thirty standards taps with New Belgium $2.50 pints on Wednesday. All were good drinkable brews with many beers I cannot get in the Great Lakes area.

Freindly bartender with good knowledge of brews and good crowd of tasters and a couple of brewers from Minnesota.

The menu had starters and sandwichs.

Nice location and I will stop again when I am in Omaha.

What surprised me the most about the Crescent Moon was how good the food was. Sure, it's just standard restaurant/bar & grill food, but it was actually very well done. And it was reasonably priced. That said...

I knew they'd have a very good beer selection, and they did. They tap selection is top notch, and they have a few locals on. And the bottle selection is quite varied, and pretty much covers the globe. This is all to be expected, right? I mean, that is their reputation.

The only other thing then, is the atmosphere. I was expecting kind of a college bar, kind of not, and that's exactly what it is. It actually has a kind of college feel in the blue colored carpets and chairs that look like classroom chairs (they probably are), but it also has a kind of lodge-like feel. It's nice, but not too nice, if you know what I mean. I found it very comfortable. They have an ATM and a digital jukebox, and there's plenty of beerephenalia. The large Metz Beer sign is great, and the display of tap markers on peg-board just screams "midwest".

I haven't been downstairs to the Huber House, or next door to Max & Joe's, but I liked the Crescent enough that I'll definitely be going back! Certainly worth seeking out in Omaha!

The Moon is laid back and does a great job at making sure you understand what is available and what to expect from the beer. The food is great, recommend the wings. Solid beer selection; when coupled with the two other bars in the complex you have access to near 60 beers on tap. Well over 300 beers available via tap and bottle. If I can offer one downer its that its becoming so popular that, during the weekend, its tough to grab a place to sit sometimes.

In cooperation with Beertopia and all the bars in the complex, beer festivals occur many times throughout the year (Summer, Winter, Holiday, Spring, Extreme, Oktoberfest, etc.) as well as select tastings. Specials occur daily.
