This was another corner location with the door right on the corner, so that everything seemed just a wee bit cockeyed. Oh right, that is just my perception kicking in. Whoops!

Entering through the vestibule, the (now former) non-smoking section was to the immediate right and consisted of all of three booths and two tables, plus a foosball table. A local law has since banned all smoking, hallelujah! Further on, still to the right, was the “U”-shaped, emerald Formica-topped bar. Each flank of the U housed a bank of approximately twenty (20) taps, for a total of approximately forty (40) taps and absolutely NO BMC products in sight. In Omaha. Nebraska. Get it? This is the state where I was told that the average consumer will send a beer back as being “bad” if he/she cannot read the Sunday paper through the liquid. This was a highly notable finding. Bditty187 informed me that the big account there is Boulevard, and is in fact, the largest Boulevard account outside of its home in Kansas City, Missouri.
Speaking of Boulevard, I really dug their annual Stout promotions, the posters for which were still on display during my visit. 2000: “Stout on a Limb.” 2001: “Stout of This World”. 2002: “Stout to Lunch”. 2003: “Stout Cold”. 2004: “You Make Me Wanna Stout (A Little Bit Stouter Now – in bottles)” and “Stout on the Town”. Ha! Hey, I’ll make the puns around here, thanks.

Continuing aft on the left-hand side was a display case of logo wear and above it, a display of old tap handles. Aft of the bar, in the center of the space, was the (then-smoking) restaurant section, with a bank of booths along the far right wall. All of the way aft, on the right, was the kitchen with the washrooms slightly to the left. Above the bar was a skylight and the whole place was festooned with Breweriana from Storz, Columbus All-American, and Falstaff. I bought a “Farewell to Falstaff” t-shirt out of that display case that I mentioned earlier. Regional breweries are dead/dying. Long live the regional breweries! They had a promotion going with New Belgium BC that if one drank all five or six NBBC beers that they had on-tap, one would be entered in a drawing for a beach cruiser bicycle that was hanging above the bar. I was really inspired by that bike, thinking about how if I won it, I might use it to bike across Iowa in the RAGBRAI, but they never called to say that I won. 8=( Oh well, at least I drank some great New Belgium beers. The entertainment consisted of, among other things, an ancient Ms. PacMan, a Golden Tee machine, and electronic darts. This was a great time and on a subsequent visit, the owner showed me around and gave me a beer coozie.

There were several references that came to mind during my visit to this establishment. The first was BeerTravel’s comment about his heartburn with places that bill themselves as “Ale Houses” and serve nothing but macro lagers. Not here! Then there was TheRealBeerFly’s quote about PA having small, firm taps while other states allow big, floppy taps. These were big, but they were still pretty firm. Finally, as an homage to IlikeBeer, the logo here was very evocative of the Lunacy label.

One of the most suggested bars by the locals...

Located in the trendy Blackstone district of Omaha, NE, this bar has the good dive-bar feel right from the moment you walk in. Tastefully decorated with wood, and with most everything to either belly up or sit on is wood, there is nothing very trendy nor hipster about the place - and I love it.

Decent selection of craft brew, good local selection, they have a lower level that has a more German feel open at night.

The service is heartland friendly, and the local flies are friendly as well. A definite stop if you’re ever in the area.

I have been spending more time in Omaha for work and have had this place on my radar for some time. Imagine my surprise and delight when my customer suggested we go here for some post work food and drinks.

We parked in back and walked around to the front entrance. We walked past the smallish bar and grabbed a table in the back.

Our waitress was quick with menus and then beers.

I had several of the Nebraska beers that I can’t get near me. Beer selection was good with plenty of breweries and styles to pick from. My drafts were all in good shape as it appears they take care of their lines and turn beers over quickly.

The food was decent and I liked my pork sandwich. The pork was way too large for the bun and it came with a good horseradish sauce.

They had a great crowd for a Monday evening, so I’m not the only one who thinks they are doing something right. Unfortunately, the downstairs German bar was closed. Maybe next time?

I will never go to Nebraska again without stopping at Crescent Moon. The best beer I ever had came out of cask there, and it pains me to say that I drank so many others after it, that I couldn't recall the name of the cask beer!! Also the best pub food I've ever had. Try the deep fried green peppers!

Perhaps the premier craft drinking experience in Omaha, with a ton of taps and bottles to choose from. This place had Founders Devil Dancer on tap, a beer I had never even seen on this side of the Mississippi, no less the Missouri. Servers really know their beer which is no surprise, as next door is the best beer store within perhaps a 500 mile radius. Outstanding.
