One of the oldest barrels from our stock, a lambic influenced sour ale.

We added a hefty harvest of whole cluster Southern Oregon grown Tempranillo grapes from a favorite vineyard. Big rustic and spicy fruit aromas with a bracing acidity, and earthy backdrop.

We expect this beer to evolve positively in the bottle over a long period, but the brightness and fruit character is very enjoyable now!

L: clear and magenta to purple, a purple hue head that fades with little to no lacing
S: tart, funk and grape juice
T: nice firm tartness but not over powering leads to a grape jam like sweetness
F: crisp and carb seems lowish but still drinks prickly

O: grape beers are hit of miss for me and sometimes come off to sweet, this is pure hit and was delicious to sip and enjoy

31 January 2021 - Beer #225

Acquired via trade

Appearance: 5 - this is absolutely stunning. It's a deep red with a lovely white head that won't go away.

Nose: 4 - more funky than sour. Smells like a semi-sweet red wine.

Taste: 4 - tastes like a bubbly, semi-sweet red wine. Quite sour, but not as fruity as I prefer.

Mouth: 5 - pretty thick, and the bubbles are everywhere.

Overall: 4 - a well-crafted sour. A nice wine alternative.

Cheers!

A- Deep red pour 750ml to a becher glass. The head makes it to two fingers high with a foamy texture and fairly good retention. Spotty and sheet lacing.

S- Soft young lambic esque. Sulfury mineral water. Big grapes not welches/purple but big vinous dark grapes. Hints at sour. Lactic acid with dank, funky, musty and lemon hints.

T- Grapes are strong and vinous with a dark grape stem, seed, flesh flavor, very vinous overall. Hints of lemon, lactic acid, horsefunk, hay and cherry pie. Tons of grapes and a niceyoung lambic sulfur character. Grape and oak tannins abound and hints of wood. Grape seeds become big with time. Ends up rather sour.

Foamy fluffy. High end carbonation. Sour finish. Oily slick.
MF- A foamy and fluffy consistency to the medium bodied brew. High level of carbonation and a slick, oily and sour finish.

All aboard the grape train with stem, seed and grape juice flavor suiting a complex and just really nice sour base that has some lambic qualities to it.
