750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Clear red amber body. Small white head and a very thin collar.

Smell - Standard de Garde yeast aroma. Lemon. Bready malts. Lots of oak.

Taste - Lightly tart. Lemony. Woody right up front. Caramel and bready malts. Kinda bland, really.

Mouthfeel - Heavy. Medium low carbonation and a light tartness.

Overall - It's a decent beer, but just isn't very interesting.

I heard rumors that this was ropey out of the bottle to begin with but that is definitely not the case now. Pours translucent orange with maroon tints and a nice 2 finger head that fades slowly. The port adds some great sweetness and tannin elements to the very substantial spicey biere de garde base. Exceedingly easy drinking and a great surprising base and barrel combination.

Beer doesn't have a clear identity. Clashes sour and port that doesn't blend quite well together
