Hazy pink lemonade color. Cranberry deliciousness. Lemon acidity. Light funk, but mainly tart and sour. Very easy drinking. Even better than the imperial blu bu.

A: pours a very slightly hazy golden color with reddish hues; small loose head fades quickly to leave a thin ring of small bubbles around the glass; no lacing

S: green grape skin, lemon juice, lactic acid, very faint red berry; exhibits a light to medium salty character throughout; more cranberry is apparent as it warms

T: faint sweetness on entry which is quickly washed over by a wave of acidity; lemon juice, lactic acid, slight cranberry which blends well with the tartness from the lactic acid; light saltiness on the finish with lightly prickly acidity; tartness is on the high side of moderate, but not enough for a full pucker

M: good mouthfeel, on the full side for a Berliner; the carbonation is on the low side but it's helped by the prickliness of the acidity

O: this is a very good beer, but not as good as I was expecting; so much of what we know about the flavor of fresh cranberry comes from it's tartness, and that flavor is mostly lost in the tartness of the Berliner; still one of the best Berliners I've had, but I set the bar on another level when I'm drinking de Garde

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into an enlarged snifter. I don't see a bottling date.

Appearance: Pours a guava-esque pink with an orange hue, and leaves a small off-white head that slowly fades to a little layer atop the beer. The bottle gushed upon opening.

Smell: Big delicious floral juniper notes, cranberries, white wine, ginger, oak, strawberry, slight funk. Big influence from the gin barrels - wonderful floral gin notes take center stage in the aroma.

Taste: Big drinkable sour cranberry, floral juniper, ginger, other spices, oak, dry wine-like finish. A nice amount of sour, actually a bit more than I thought from the smell, but still quite mild and drinkable.

Mouth-feel: Medium to well carbonated with a light, dry body. Slightly sour finish,

Overall: Lovely gin-barrel influence and sour cranberry notes take the lead in this one, and make it a tasty, drinkable, gin-like, slightly watered down cranberry juice. This shows off what interesting things gin barrels can do.

Thanks to mrbubbler for sharing this one at the Revenge Of Instant Replay bottleshare held at Instant Replay in Canoga Park, CA.

Pours a murky whitish-red with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour with malt, grain, cranberry, and herb aromas. Taste is much the same with sour grain, cranberry, and slight herb flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the herb quality I getting in the aroma and flavor is a bit odd.
