Here we go. The imperial bu series has always been very good, but it also came off like a wild ale with its amped up alcohol and super sour harshness compared to a traditional berliner sour factor. This one was pretty, that purple berry color and relatively thick for a berliner weisse. Prolly had to pump up the barley and wheat to take on this much fruit and sourness. But its a pretty beer. Aroma was berries, can't really discern the specifics of what kind. Seemed boysenberry based on color.

Taste was a little more in my wheelhouse for berliner, the 'not imperial' version like this one is softer, gentler, but gets the wheat and berry character across easier. There is a still a face bracing sourness but its only a 7 out of 10 I guess, or maybe an 8.5/10 for a berliner. The fruit is done exceptionally well, and you can pick out the little cheesy manure tillamook impact similar to what funk factory has managed in recent years. This beer was a winner.

Bottle poured into two tulips with no date on it! The pour is dark ruby/purple with a fizzy pinkish head. Slight lacing as the beer is consumed and as the head dissipates. The smell is very good: strong berry funk, vinous, slightly woody, lemon peel, and boysenberries. The taste follows the smell but it's tart and jammy mid sip. The feel is light, tart, dry, and effervescent. Overall this is an awesome Berliner and I love the fact that I have 6 different more de garde bottles in me cellar to review. Cheers

Same bottle that @andyedgar reviewed below. Ripe cheese aroma was overpowering, taste not quite as offensive. Nothing like the Stone Bu or Imperial Cherry Blu Bu which were both very enjoyable and tart. Pretty sure this was a bad bottle/batch.

My least favorite from De Garde to date. Weird goat cheese aroma. Taste wasn't nearly as offensive as the smell, but something was not right here. Could have been a bad bottle, but not like other DG's I have had

Probably the best berliner I've had. The color is beautiful pink almost magenta. The smell is hugely berry with a hint of lemon. The taste is quenchingly tart like a lemonade with all of the berry flavor you could want without going into sweetness. Super light and effervescent. It toes the line for me in terms of the amount of lacto but the berry really smooths that out.

This is my first de garde experience and probably the best berliner I've ever had. Pours a beautiful deep, cloudy purpleish red with a huge pink head. The smell is like wildberry jam, tart blackberries and boysenberries. The taste is similar to the nose but much heavy on the typical earthy funk and tartness of the style. It is lightbodies and not as highly carbed as I would have expected. Finishes very dry. Perfect for the style.

750ml bottle. Served in a stemmed glass 3/18/2015.

A- Beautiful dark pink-reddish body, bright 2 finger thick pink head with very nice effervescence and thickness, with appropriate retention time. It starts large, but simmers down quite quickly. Not much lacing.

S- Authentic fruit aromas without much of the fruit sweetness. Lots of berry jam. Crisp, very tart. I get much more blackberry and boysenberry than blueberry.

F- Tastes way better than it smells, and it's a nice smelling beer. Fruity berries abound, primarily the boysenberries and blackberries. Honestly, the blackberry flavour is strong here, and I've found boysenberry to taste very similar, just a bit sweeter. Anyway, this inspired me to go into the pantry to taste some blueberry jam, and having that benefit of comparison, I can definitely see where the blueberry plays into the palate. It's on the sweeter side compared to the other berries which are generally tarter, overall leaving a nice crisp effervescent berry flavour on the palate, similar to that aftertaste when eating freshly picked blackberries. Wheat and oak rounds things out. Not too funky.

M- Medium bodied, crisp, nice carbonation, mildly prickly but super flavourful and easy to drink. Did I mention that it is very easy to drink? Delicious beer.

O- Excellent and very tasty double fruited berliner weisse. Blueberry seems to be a delicate fruit, but it's definitely there and works nicely as a complementary fruit to the boysenberries. I really enjoyed drinking this one.

A huge pink head erupts on the pour and fizzles away quickly. Body is hazy red.

Heavy on the fruit and sour which seems to be the name of the game with De Garde. Delicious in other words. Definitely more boysenberry than blueberry.
Gets kind of tart raspberry and cranberry like.

Light bodied with higher carbonation that ends dry.

Thank you, Brian.

Pouring a deep reddish pink with a dense, light pink head that falls off quickly, leaving no lacing, this looks pretty good. The nose is dominated by a big, juicy, fruity, jammy berry character with the boysenberries dominating the blueberries. Black raspberry character is quite prominent as well, even though the label doesn't mention their use. Moderate lactic tartness, mildly yogurt-like is present. Most excellent.

The palate opens with a big fruity and juicy character, the berries just dominating the base beer. Highly carbonated to the point where this is spritzy and seltzer-like. The berry character is pretty huge with a great blend of sourness and fruit with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries all noticeable. Drying on the finish with a lingering yogurt character, this beer is light in body and highly carbonated. Mildly lemony as well.

This is my first DeGarde berlinner! I am very impressed with this one. Very jammy berry notes in the nose and flavor profile. Light lacto funk. Infinately drinkable, you could easily drink a 750 of this in a session. This is phenominal. It is the best fruited berlinner that I have drank. Looking forward to try more of these DeGarde berlinners!

Really impressive beer the whole way a around. Fruit is crisp and carbonation right on. Nose clearly lets you know this is serious. Worth seeking out. DeGarde continues to impress with their fruit Berlinners.

Pinkish head quickly fizzles away.

Fruity acid on the nose, jammy cranberries.

More with the jamminess. Sourness is about a 5.5 on the Duff27 sourness scale.

Medium mouthfeel, carbonation explodes in the mouth. Well crafted.

Cranberries could stick out a little bit more in the taste but that's nitpicking. I really enjoyed it, as I have with everything from De Garde. Thanks egrace84 for the share.

Thanks to rudzud for sharing.

Very small head, dark murky raspberry purple color.

Nose great, lots of jammy berry, tart sour berry, boisonberry, raspberry, so much fresh berry and generic fruit, light seed stem tannic note, little sweet malt.

Taste starts with tons more fruit, more berry all over, boisonberry, raspberry, little seed and stem, blueberry flesh, berry flesh and skin all over. Some tart souring notes, acetobacter like souring note, an acidic bite, little faint vinegar, starting to go to wine vinegar. Mild creamy malt, sour malt.

Mouth is tart souring little flemmy, decent carb, etc.

Overall pretty good, actually great, so much awesome berry, flemmy sour notes, tart acidic and tasty.
