6/2018 bottle. Poured from a 750ml corked bottle into a DeGarde tumbler glass. Actually I’m not sure kind of glass this is.

Pours a dark maroon, hazy, pulpy body with a big frothy pink head that reduces slowly to leave good lacing and retention.

Aromas are very cherry-forward, sweet and tart cherries still dominate after 2 years in the bottle. Light oak and a barnyard funkyness on the nose.

On the tongue it’s tart, almost sour, with heavy cherry juice, sour raspberries, musty, oaky, balsamic vinegar, tannic, cherry warheads, dry, berries, aftertaste is tart cherry skins and barnyard yeast, finishing dry with a fruity tartness lingering. Medium body and medium carbonation. Less refreshing but more flavorful than other sours ive had from DeGarde.

Overall a delicious, complex beer.

Thanks, Sam and Brian! June 2018 batch.

A clear deep maroon red with a large light pink head with good retention and no lacing, this looks solid. The nose is a riot of red raspberries and sour cherries. Bright, fresh, fragrant, jammy and with no raspberry seed tannins or an excessive sour cherry skin tannin note, this is excellent. The base beer with notes of lemon and a little bit of barnyard is also noticeable. This beer is all about the fruit, though. The palate opens sour with a large lactic and mildly lemony sourness that opens up the tastebuds for the raspberry and sour cherry flavors. The earthy notes that i typically associate with black raspberries are present as well. A clear and brilliant sour cherry note is present. I can't stress how excellent the fruit expression is here. Tannins are reserved, which is shocking given the sheer quantity of fruit present. A little vanilla is noticeable. Sour and lemony on the finish, with the sourness of raspberries and sour cherries piling on, this beer is light in body and highly carbonated. Funk is minimal here. The high sourness does inhibit drinkability just a little.
