This pours an auburn tan color. Lots of citrus, with what is a sharply pronounced squeeze of grapefruit on the nose. Grapefruit comes across while sipping, with hints of pith and some zest. An approachable grapefruit IPA.

First review on BA! Poured from a 16oz can, comes in a 4 pack. Picked up in San Diego at Jimbos Liqour(great selection in Clairemont).

Poured golden clear, well carbonated. I love my IPAs and fruity notes so I picked up this Grapefruit IPA hoping for a solid citrus aroma/taste. I was pretty disappointed trying to hunt down any scent/flavor of grapefruit. The can says the Brewers picked grapefruit and "hand squeezed" it themselves, well, keep squeezing boys!

Heavy lack of grapefruit doesn't leave me craving for more. I can find dominant grapefruit in many other brews, grapefruit sculpin being an obvious choice.

That being said it was a decent IPA, easily crushable, and I must admit I love the design of the can. Being a media major I was attracted to the advertising, but that's probably the best part of this beer. Nothing special about this one, but maybe I need to try it from a growler as a previous review mentions more grapefruit presence.

Purchased 4 pack 16oz cans dated Best by 8/21/16. assuming usual 90 day BB date this beer was recently canned.
looks: poured into a weizen glass. Dark orange, 1 finger head, nice lacing left behind,
taste: citrus bitter hops
Mouth feel:: clean, light carbonation.

Not a bad citrus ipa. The grapefruit gives it a nice punch that just edges out the bitter hops.
Has a very clean mouth feel and is easy to drink. At 7.7% abv you don't get a taste of alcohol at all.
I found this IPA very enjoyable. Its very citrus forward with the hops close behind. My only complaint would be that you cant narrow down the citrus to grapefruit specifically.

16 oz. Can

Poured into a Squatters true pint glass a pretty nice clean/clear dark golden orangey color, with some very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, some malts, citrusy, with some nice grapefruit. The taste is hoppy, slightly malty, slight sweetness, citrusy, lots of grapefruit. Medium body, ABV hidden fairly well, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew.

Picked up in Oakland. This is a new brewerfor me but I love the black tall boy cans. Big grapefruit and pine flavor in the nose, which I suppose is to be expected.

They aren't playing with the grapefruit, which stays strong through the sip and into the aftertaste. Even the hops bow to the acid tang. 77 IBUs doesn't seem out of bounds, but the rough edge of the grapefruit makes this one a fairly harsh face clencher. The abv becomes detectable as you drink as well. I think this is a good one for real hop heads.

Poured from an undated 16-ounce can a chill hazed dark yellow under a 1-inch thick white head which leaves spotty lace. Aroma is pithy grapefruit, with some herbal and floral notes. Flavor is mildly dank and sticky, citrusy, and some malty sweetness. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Finishes with bitter and herbal. Enjoyed.

Poured from the 32 oz growler filled at the brewery tasting room. Attractive golden amber color with a substantial white foam in the Piraat tulip. Spicy and citrusy aroma. Tangy and spritzy on the tongue.

So malty, with a sweet taste. The grapefruit taste is juicy and fragrant. The bitterness is just moderate and doesn't smack of the usual grapefruit pith when brewers mix bitter hops and bitter peel. This grapefruit IPA style is one I didn't take to right away, but done well it can be a great addition to the line-up of refreshing hoppy brews.

Best by 8/21/16.

Pours a hazy honey gold with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grapefruit, grapefruit juice, grapefruit soda, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with grapefruit soda, grapefruit juice, citrus zest, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid fresh grapefruit characteristics that work together with the base beer slightly better in the smell.

Serving type: can.

Pours a dark golden color with a thick off white head. Immediately the smell of jolly rancher grapefruit wafts towards me. Flavors and aromas of grapefruit juice, slight pine, and a hint of caramel come through. The mouthfeel is light on carbonation and slightly sticky. Alcohol is totally hidden. I'm not the hugest fan of fruit-infused beers, so this is about what I'd expect from another grapefruit-infused IPA. A good deal and I love the 16 oz cans.

I bought this beer half convinced that I wouldn't like it but was intrigued by the 16 oz can and the nice graphics. I must say I was more than pleasantly surprised. Although the label description described it as "bitter", the taste that lingered after each sip was exactly what I would have expected from a grapefruit-flavored beer. It paired very well with Chinese food the first night and Mexican, the second. The best part: with the 16 ounce can, I had an extra 4 ounces to savor as dessert.

Had heard of Refuge Brewery, but couldn’t tell you where it was. Picked this one up after seeing the can, remembering a Blood Orange Wit can that was similar. Just read the back of the can before this review and had the thought that this was going to be a really good beer.

Poured a deep gold, yellow hazy color with 5-to-6 fingers of rocky, white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Very good, foamy lacing. Outstanding-to-excellent retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled sharp grapefruit, citrus zest, lime, lemon, caramel, pine, dish soap and Citra. (Smell - 3.75)

Taste followed the nose for the most part. Grapefruit juice, bitter grapefruit rind, tangerine peel, lime, leafy herbal hops, lemon zest and Citra hops. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy, citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.00)

This was a decent grapefruit IPA, but not quite as good as I hoped. Would probably have it again though. (Overall - 3.75)
