Refuge has been around for a couple years now, and while they still focus on Belgian styles they've experimented with many other styles as well. They are starting to delve onto sours and barrel aging also. They have excellent beer, I just wish they would do more. But the atmosphere is awesome and the bartenders are as friendly as can be!

Stopped in while visiting my Dad in Temecula. Did a mini-crawl between Black Market, Refuge and Wiens.

Awesome atmosphere. The place was packed. Really nice decor...stone and wood all around. Barrels. Nice bar, etc

Had a flight of some decent barrel-aged beers. Got a growler of the blood orange wit. Not bad. Pretty good selection of stuff. I think I had 5 offerings. Some were hits, some were so so.

We were at the bar, so we got really good service. Watched a few people have to wait a bit to get noticed by the beertenders, but it was really busy. A lot busier than our other stops.

We had a nice time and enjoyed the evening. will definitely go back when I visit my Dad again.

Another new face in the fast growing Temecula scene, Refuge Brewery may have just poised itself to being my favorite Temecula area brewery. Not having any of its beers before, walking into its tasting room was like opening a mystery box and not knowing what to expect. First impression; clean tasting room, very organized, easy to read descriptions of the beer menu behind the bar, much space to wiggle around and with a defined border between that and the brewery itself.

Ten different beers pouring from tap, and impressing me was how diverse the selection was. Among the styles represented were a witbier, Belgian IPA, porter, Strong Dark Ale, and even a version of the ladder aged in wine barrels. More impressive was how good the three beers I tried were, with the Blood Orange Wit being my favorite. Adding a little texture to the Refuge experience was the utilized glassware. Shunning the shaker pint glass (thank goodness!) and in its place are stange glasses and teardrop tulips. The bar was well staffed and friendly, meaning little wait time between beers.

A bit off the beaten path in Temecula, though its worth finding. Across the street sits Wiens Brewing, which gives you another reason to come by.

I recently visited Refuge as I was in the area on business. It is definitely one of the nicest tasting rooms I have ever been to with lots of stone and wood elements. The brewery setup is right in the open near the tasting area. They had 8 of their normal beers on tap with a special oak aged beer as well. The beer was served in appropriate glassware and at a good temperature. Service was pretty good even though it was pretty busy when I went. They offer tasters, flights, full pours, and growler fills. Prices are reasonable. Some of their beers were misses in my opinion but I would definitely come back in the future if I was in the area.
