Don’t be afraid of the Dark. Unlike some of its bigger brethren, Dark is not to going to scare you off by being too big or too sweet. Pleasant fruitiness swim in sync with roasted malts & dry cocoa; balanced and flavorful, each sip will draw you to its murky depths, but you probably won’t mind.

What a toasty, Smokey, coffee and chocolate stout. It is also creamy with a silky mouthfeel. Smells of cocoa and coffee. 8% alcohol which you can't tell it's there. I've never had a Blacklist Brewery beer but this is dynamite. I'd put up close to Founder's Breakfast Stout.

Appearance: Pours a nearly jet black color with a massive billowing dark tan head that coalesces into the beer. SRM of 23-24. (4.25)
Aroma: Strong aromas upfront of dark and bittersweet chocolate, some dark espresso roast and bitterness followed by a complex dark fruit flavor on the finish.
Flavor: Strong flavors of milk and bittersweet chocolate, airy coffee roast. Follows into a dark espresso roast bitterness that lingers in the middle before a smooth chocolate finish.
Feel: Medium bodied. Strong, but smooth carbonation. Mouthfeel is full, but light. Then the espresso bitterness lingers on the palate. (4.50)
Compared to Castle Danger George Hunter Stout 3/6/22: Pours a similar color, slightly darker and larger head. Similar aromas. More bittersweet chocolate and coffee roast. Less dark bread malt and dark fruit flavors. More bitter and dry on the finish.
Overall: A very nice "dark ale" or stout. Clean bittersweet chocolate and cocoa mixed with dark espresso roast. Chocolatey, yet for 8%, finishes relatively bitter, dry, and clean. Most reminds me of Founders Breakfast Stout. Would compare to that one if you get a chance. (Final Rating: 4.26)

This beer pours a standard black with a large pale brown head. The aroma features notes of chocolate covered cherries, craisin, date, fig, candied orange peel, walnuts, and a hint of clove. The flavor leads with dark chocolate, roast walnut and almond, and the shifts to espresso, vanilla, caramel, dried cherry, fig, date, a little baked banana, cinnamon, and clove. The mouthfeel is full, but tempered with a very high level of carbonation.Overall I was not sure what to expect from this one, but it delivers on both the Belgian and stout promises very well - roast coffee and chocolate malts mingle with oodles of dried fruit and spice, to create a beer with dessert like flavors but with a dried and drinkable demeanor.

Blacklist do not date their product so I seldom, if ever buy anything from them. But this is a stout in a can so I felt secure in my purchase. Not heavy in a Belgian way so if that scares people off, no need to fear. Not even sure they use a Belgian yeast. Slightly sweet, a little fruity, smokey, and finishes clean and dry. Feels a little thin and over carbonated.

i think i was expecting something sweeter, so the whole roasted element threw me a bit. a bit dry. mouth is rather thin. alcohol is well hidden.
it's not bad, but nothing i'd want to buy again. just something to say i tried.

belgian stout was not something i cared much for in my earlier drinking days, but after maturing in my appreciation for belgian styles, i have grown to like these more and more each time i encounter one, and this beauty from blacklist is among the best i have had in the style from anywhere! its creamy headed and inky near black in color, with good body and a burnt coffee and roast aromatic to the grain, along with a lightly spicy, mellow, sort of wintery belgian yeast with faint clove and anise notes, plantain, and green apple. its enormously complex right away, and i am extremely intrigued. the flavor is as good as the nose, huge dark chocolate and coffee notes in here, a lighter fruity raisin and fig complexion as well, and a rich sweetness, molasses and tobacco, super wintery and warming, just a little alcohol coming through but a very cozy mix of flavors. i love the yeast in here, its not over the top belgian, but brings on a lot of fruitiness, apple and red wine and prune, but also a hearty winetry spiciness that is just perfect in here. it feels creamy and rich, well carbonated too through, and incredibly satisfying. my favorite beer yet from these guys by far, not too robust either for delicate foods like oysters! what a treat!

The taste is somewhat boozy up front. Some sweetness. Some chocolate.

This is a really nice Belgian. Consistent with Blacklist's excellent Belgian style brews. The beer pours a nice dark color with a significant light brown head - due to the surprising amount of carbonation. Aroma is minimal - had hoped for more. The mouthfeel is lighter than expected - really refreshing. The taste is rich - coffee, with a hint of bitterness - and a really nice after-taste that lingers. Overall, a really nice dark beer - when you feel like a stout but want something a bit lighter.

Poured an opaque, black color with copper highlights and a small tan head of foam. It smelled of dark dried fruits, chocolate and toffee. Minimal bitterness. Tasted of Belgian candy sugar, molasses, toffee and dried dark fruits.

Pours pitch black with a thin tan head. Smells primarily of roasty malts with a bit of a coffee profile, not much else. Not particularly complex, but pleasant and what you'd expect from a stout. The taste is very malty, roasted notes and definite coffee notes as well. The hops are earthy and mellow, and there's a slight fruitiness, maybe currant. Finishes dry and with a lingering bitterness. The yeast comes through as the beer gets warmer. The alcohol is covered very well. Mouthfeel is wonderfully creamy and smooth without being too heavy, and with a good amount of carbonation. Overall, this is an excellent beer, and surprisingly easy to drink for a dark beer in the summer.
