This is a differerent beer the Maca root provides coffee notes that are unexpected in a Tripel. I enjoyed this, it's almost a blend between a Tripel and coffee stout.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on September 13, 2014

The pour is somewhere between yellow and golden with a short-lived white head. Brewed with maca root, a Peruvian version of ginseng. Should give me an energy boost later.

Not knowing what maca root smells like, I wouldn't know if I picked it up. But I did pick up some toasted Belgian malts, yeast, orange peel, and a little spiciness. No booze for 9.1%.

The body is medium.

Those Belgian malts and sugars come on strong at first in the flavor and then there is this appealing spicy, peppery sensation to wrap it all up at the finish. I love Tripels on the whole and this one is right on with its interpretation of the style.

A clear golden ale with a thick, tight, and sticky head that leaves nice clumps and slowly fades. A bit of a collar remains all the way down. Smell is deceptively light with Belgian pilsner malt and a huge yeast fruit ester signature. Lots of malt, bread and light fruits. Nary a hint of alcohol unless you search, and then very light fusel notes. Clean dry almost lager like hop signature. Taste is light and malty upfront with a strong hop presence to balance and deliver the well constructed base. A honeyed hint of alcohol and lots of juicy malt with hunks of sweet dinner bread. large. Firm hop finish that is super dry and quenching. The light alcohol presence is well integrated and never draws a target. An excellent choice for anyone looking for a high strength brew. A top notch Belgian that is made here. I love the maca inclusion and so far it does not show itself as a liability. This beer is light and crisp for such a high gravity brew. Somewhat crisp carbonation and a pilsner like drinkability give an easy quality to a heavy hitter of a brew. Feel is lighter than you would think but it's not a session ale by any stretch unless you plan to test your limits. A super dry and quenching beer that will have you drinking way too fast if you don't watch out.

22oz brown bottle with no freshness date. Clear golden hue, thin but very sticky lacing. Fruity, peppery, yeasty, and bready nose and palate with just a faintness of medicinal phenols. Some warmth in the middle from the alcohol, hint of wild herb and an earthiness as well. Spot on for the Tripel style, the addition of maca root is interesting but only to the extent of its profile in the beer which is pretty subtle.

Served in a snifter glass.

Appearance: Has a semi-cloudy body that is just bit opaque which comes off with orange to gold tones to it. Body is also heavily bubbled which creates a white head that rises to maybe a notch below a finger's length.

Smell: light yeast scent, as it warms up it becomes much more potent.

Taste: Suprisingly very sweet, honey all over the place with slight hit of barley and a bit of yeast. Honestly I'm in lust.

Mouth: Sticky sweet after taste, with medium carbonation.

Overall: Not a tough decision at all, you see it you buy it. More of an after dinner beer and seriously in no way you can say in the back of the head this is crap beer. Absolutely dessert in a glass. Salud!

Had at wfm on tap- served in a nonic tumbler. Poured a clear golden orange color with one finger of head, meager retention and good swathes of lacing.

Smell is typical of the style- sweet candi sugar, grainy pilsner malt and some peppery yeast.

Tastes good- candi sugar dominates, with peppery and grainy notes, some mild hop bitterness up front and a sweet finish.

Mouthfeel is good- medium full bodies with moderate carbonation.
Good tripel, nothing special though.

Pours a three-finger off-white head that fades slowly leaving a some lace. Hazy light amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Sugary nose and flavor is Belgian yeast, caramel and some hops that balance. $9.99 for a 22oz bottle from Market Basket Concord, NH.

A tasty Belgian.

Nose reminds me a bit of coriander, oranges, and the medium off-white head is a nice touch. The body is deep gold, almost amber in color and is light on the palate. Tastes like atypical Belgian, nothing too extravagant. Local store had 650ml on sale for $1.99 so I thought I'd give them a try. Was tasty enough that I went back and got nine of them. Couldn't beat it for the price.
