A very nice Irish pub in The Hague. Relaxing and friendly atmosphere, decent food (we only tried one course and weren't blown away by it) and a nice selection of speciality and craft beer. Nothing extraordinary on the menu, mind you, but they do have a changing menu and I was able to find a bottle of Cantillon Kriek there.
The Fiddler also brews its local beers - stouts, pale ales, IPAs, weizens - which are all quite good, if you're out for a beer with your friends.

What makes The Fiddler so damn unique? I was recommended this place by the folks of Cafe de la Gare. Visiting a brewpub in the city would be cool. Visiting a brewpub which is styled like an English pub and brewing only English styled beer got my attention. Having all the house beers be on cask? I don't care how buzzed I am, I'm going over. Oh, and they have more than 150 bottles and 11 guest taps? Why haven't I heard of The Fiddler before?
One thing you'll notice is that The Fiddler is large. The bar near the back is very long. Lots of tables are dotted around the floor. A few TV's showing football are off to one side. Big windows bring in lots of natural light, although some parts of the pub remain relatively dark.
Six house beers are available, and all are served on cask. Half-pint or full pint, you have your choices of a bitter, pale ale, porter, stout, ESB, and red ale. Not used to the concept? There are 11 additional guest beer from the keg (Palm, Hertog Jan, Wise Ass, Franziskaner). Not enough? Check out the bottle list, which continually adds new beers to its inventory. The inventory is mixed well between nationalities, including brands like Brewdog, St.Peters, Texels, De Molen, Flying Dog, and Froach. With that said, the bottled options will cost you a little more than at other bars.
The Fiddler is not a mere gimmick. The two cask ales which I tried were good and were a refreshing break from the trend. An absolute must visit in Den Haag.
