Awesome bar. Awesome food. Awesome draft selection. Awesome bottle list. Had omnipollo on tap and some very nice bottles. Great prices. Highly recommended.

On Grotte Markt, where all the touristy shit. 30 taps, mostly Belgian, 5 rotating.

Stuff from Couffe, Karmeliet, De Koninck, Waterloo, Liefmans, Malheur, St Bernardus, Hof ten Dormaal...

“Last chance beers”: 19 bottles from Affligem to Val Dieu Bruin at reasonable prices, and 8 large bottles like Charactere Rouge, Mikeller SpontaBasil, a lot pricier. Tons of foreign beers as well from Brewdog, De Molen, Birra del Borgo… serious beer menu, no doubt!

Basic food menu with everything from fries and burgers to hotdogs and traditional Belgian food. The Flemish stew Vlaams Stoofulees with dark beer was delicious. Friendly service despite being busy.

We sat outside in the heated patio and had a good time. Recommended, but not a must in Antwerp.

I visited this place with high occurence during my Erasmus mobility in Antwerp. I was totally satisfied and obsessed by the atmosphere. Service and selection are great, foodpairing with beer is excellent, especially beer and cheese. I miss that feeling and will visit Gollem again as soon as i will travel to Belgium again. Awesome!

I took a day-trip from Maastricht to Antwerp on 30SEP15. After sight-seeing, I hit Gollem for lunch (and more!!).

Gollem is found just opposite the fabulous Grote Markt in Antwerp, and is on the ground floor of one of the lovely buildings near the Markt. Out front are 10-12 small tables with chairs, under a large black awning. Head inside to find a place combining dark, weathered wood topped by bright, golden walls and ceiling. There's a bar on the left running long towards the back. On the immediate right were a couple small tables under a stairway, and further back on the right were more small tables and booths. Didn't check-out where the stairs led to, though. Above the back end of the bar was a chalk-board drawing of the LotR character, Gollem. There were many old, dusty bottles lining the shelves, but some rather blah pop-type music filled the air. Still, a cool vibe was present.

The staff was super, speaking great English first off, and then offering all sorts of tips on the biers and food, and even "working it" when the camera lens was turned on them. They had 30 taps and a shitload of bottles, with a preponderance of A-1 Belgian and Dutch stuff. I dove into a few Tripels, and was handsomely rewarded. Also threw down some super bitterballen and frittes while I was at it. Really got the job done. I don't know about the Kulminator, as both times I've visited Antwerp it hasn't yet opened, but Gollem would be at the top of my list otherwise. Great place!!

Overall very satisfied. I will be returning !
Seating available inside but also on the outside overlooking the Antwerpen "Grote Markt", one of the main tourist locations. Not the largest café, but the right size to make it cozy and pleasant.
I took my boss and the team (from 5 different countries). There was no seating readily available for the group, but a few tables were promptly rearranged to accommodate the group.
The beer menu holds all basic information. It will however help if you do some homework on beforehand and have shortlist of beers you would want to try.
The waiter was helpful in explaining --patiently-- what beers would fit the group's wishes, and they all enjoyed the suggestions.
All in all, a good choice of beers on draft; very good choice of bottled beers, including a few hard to find. And in the correct cups. We drank Karmeliet, Rochefort 10, Hoegaarden, Bernardus 12, and a few others, and only smiles on the faces after tasting.
The menu suggestion was good value for money. It's not a Michelin star restaurant but a beer café that serves food as well. The French fries were the best I have had in a restaurant for a long time ! An additional serving took no time.
No surprises when the bill arrived.
A place that is well worth the visit.

I arrived in Antwerp on a Sunday so getting to Kulminator was out, while walking around Antwerp's City Grote Markt I spotted a green awning displaying 30 taps and 400+ bottles. I sat down at the bar which was just opening and started talking to the bartender who was awesome giving a full run down of Belgium beers. Great selection of Taps and bottles

Yet another good place in Antwerp.

Nicely done out to look old, high ceiling, chandelier and a small gallery for about 8 people above.

Wooden floor and furniture: with a more open plan area towards the rear, the bar being on your left.

30 or so on-tap beers and Motown music on our visit (late, Sunday 16th Dec 2012).

Good, vibe, if a little empty, staff pleasant and friendly.

30 taps you say? Thank you Mr. Streetsign, you have my business!

There's not a reason which exists that you could use to miss Gollem. Its location is excellent (mere footsteps from the city's Grote Markt), its little street sign sits outside the enterence grabbing your attention. Walking inside it is dark, yet relaxed and with plenty seating at tables or at the bar. Part of its bar has intact a wooden case of Westvleteren. Very clean inside too.

What's more impressive, the 30 taps, or the 400 bottles it claims? Tough choice. I'm leaning drafts, as 30 taps at a Belgian bar is a lot! It's excellent, pouring Martins, Kaastel, Brigand, Kwak, Petrus, Corsedonk, Malheur, Troubadour, La Chouffe, Tripel Karmeliet. Giving the bottle list its chance to talk, multiple boards are located around on the walls. To name a few; De Struise, Floreffe, Aiken, Coulier, Bavik, Du Bocq, Strubbe, Jopen, Texels, Serafijn, Postel, and some beer from Westvleteren. Just as impressive is the large inventory of glassware to match the beer and their freshness. It's also worth noting that the prices are nothing absurd.

Adding the final touch to this review was the bartender. He knew his stuff! He recommended that I skip Martin's Pale Ale (I was curious, so I ordered it anyway. Solid stuff, but nothing memorable), later recommending the Troubadour West Coast Black IPA, which ended being one of the most surprising beers of my trip. He was also quick to serve.

In Antwerp, Kulminator is king. Is there a chance that the city can have a co-king, because Gollem is absolutely worth visiting as well.
