16 oz can split with my brother-in-law. Tons of tropical fruit and citrus aroma and flavor with some wheatiness. Mild bitterness. Clean, crisp, and tasty. Surprisingly, my wife liked it and she very rarely likes IPAs of any type.

Pours a murky, turbid, burnish dirty orange with lots of brown. Almost zero head is produced. A razor-thin collar lines the perimeter. Not an attractive beer.

Nose: But the aroma on this is just insane. As soon as the can is cracked, there's just tons of cilantro, grass clippings, lime leaves, slightly fermented raspberries, tortilla chip, unripe guava, and a whole lot of petrichor. Unmistakably Mosaic. Insane levels of Mosaic. Also very dank for Mosaic. Like a "dirty Mosaic".

Palate: This may be the first example of a Mosaic beer I don't totally enjoy. It definitely is a "dirty", dank Mosaix profile. Similar to the earthiness of Simcoe. Lawn clippings and cilantro arrive first. There's this lime-like character to it, bit again, it's "dirty". There's so much chlorophyll. Just a green, herbaceous, macerated smoothie of leaves and twigs. The bitterness that comes in towards the finish is very plant-like. Not piney. Not citrusy. It truly does taste like a plant smoothie.

Mouthfeel: This has to be the finiest effervescence I've ever encountered. Millions of microscopic bubbles dancing about your palate. It's fuzzy. Truly champagne-like.

Overall: I'm really torn. I've always enjoyed Mosaic. The fruity, berry side of Mosaic. This is one of the funkiest, earthiest, most herbaceous beers I've ever tasted. It's a bit too out there for me, but I'll give it credit for uniqueness. I just let my mother (who does not enjoy IPAs in the slightest) try it, and she offered to drink the rest of the can. She loved it. Just shows it's all subjective. My score is a meaningless number. I did not enjoy this, but one of you, reading this review, standing in the aisle looking at the beers and contemplating whether or not to buy this of you will absolutely adore this. Give it a go.

My first Lost Nation. Nice cloudy grapefruit juice color that shapes the taste . It has unique blend with the DDH mosaic mix that leads to tart flavor. I'll sample more LNB.

Green hued straw color with a whitish cloudiness. Good starting head which fades to a thin layer of bubbles. Limited lace--minor spots and streaks.

The smell is mostly grapefruit rind. It's hard to tease out the malt base which features the faintest of tropical fruit.

The flavor is similar to the smell in that the malty base is so very brief (and not sweet like the smell). Highly carbonated with a light to neutral body which enhances the biting hop bitterness. Not smooth but also not extremely harsh; definitely bitter with a long lingering aftertaste.

Hazy yellow color with foamy off-white head. Aroma is citrusy but also grassy and herbal, quite surprising for Mosaic hops. Taste follows with the grassy notes, also citrus forward with a bit of green tea bitterness on the finish. Medium body with medium to high carbonation. Nice but nothing really special.

On tap at the scene of the crime.

Very pale yellow whit a nice white cap. It looks like a grapefruit juice and lemon juice blend. Ring lacing.

Citrus and floral aromas; lemon, grapefruit, floral, light malt.

Malt flavor load then the juicy hop flavors. lots of citrus. Something earthy.

Juicy and refreshing with a lingering bitter hop finish.

Fantastic aroma, very enjoyable.

L: Slightly hazy, amber with a really light dissipating head. Minimal lacing.

S: Sweet, malty, a bit of citrus. Much more of a kind of ripe fruit than citrus.

T: Tangy hops, very juicy and lush. Piney aftertaste that comes together a few sips in.

F: Fairly clean, really minimal carbonation for an IPA.

O: Single hop IPAs are great to get a good sense of the particular strain of hop. Mosaic isn't quite as enjoyable to me as some others (citra, in particular), so this isn't exactly right up my alley. This is a sweet-smelling and straight-forward IPA that has some nice malty notes, but ultimately isn't that complex. It is really easy to drink and very juicy, but if you're deep into the NE IPAs coming out right now, this might be a little tame for you.

From a tall boy, canned 11/1, into a willibecher. More lemony citrus than I usually get from mosaic....still, lots of great earthy berry notes. This has a very good nose and taste, with a nice crackery malt base that is a good vehicle; in fact, this part of the beer together with the bitter back half reminds me a bit of Daisy Cutter, which I love. As for this one, while good, I wouldn't move it up into the great category. It is fairly one note and the mouthful, though it comes through with some nice bracing herbal bitterness is nonetheless a little wet, thin, and (surprisingly) watery. Maybe all the Trillium I've been drinking is spoiling me, though...

It pours hazy yellow with a nice head. The aroma is of stone fruit with some very light dankness. The taste is well balanced and with a lingering bitterness. However, there is lots of butterscotch-like diacetyl which is not pleasant. Fairly thin bodied for the style.

The appearance is hazy, translucent straw-yellow with a soapy white head. Very good retention, with some spotty lacing.
The aroma is tart pineapple, lemon peel, white grapefruit flesh, green/unripe blueberry, cracker/pilsner-like malt, soft minty pine.

The palate is zesty, bittersweet citrus--lots of pith and peel of lemon and grapefruit. There's a nice pop of pineapple, a hint of white peach, a tiny hint of unripe blueberry. The malt is light, crackery, pilsner-like. Finishes crisply, slightly dry, very clean for most IPAs, with just a lingering undertone of earth and soft minty pine.

The mouthfeel is light but not watery, well-carbonated, very crisp, clean, lightly dry and snappy. Like a hoppy pilsner, or a less-dry saison.

An excellent IPA! A good clean, sessionable IPA, with nice Mosaic hop flavors. Highly recommended to fellow hopheads.

Poured into a pint glass from a can. Picked up in my local liquor store...a lonely single. It poured very light straw yellow, with a head as thick as a poker chip, with very small bubbles and light carbonation.

Nose is sour and fruity, like a hint of grapefruit rind mixed with a bit of floral hoppiness.

mouthfeel is substantial with carbonation making a resurgence with each sip to keep the body thick.

Taste is thin and light with very little aftertaste. Resin like pine settles on palette after a few sips.

Amazing beer. Smells fruity and hoppy. Taste follows the nose. I’m getting some guava and clementine type fruit accompanied by light bready Malts. Finishes with light but dank hops. Very low carbonation; goes down smooth. I’d consider this to be a session ipa. Very similar to notch’s left of the dial or founders all day ipa. Cheers

16 oz can. Purchased at the Woodstock (Vermont) Country Club

A hazy white gold color. An all white foam cap is quick to recede to a sparse cover and outer ring.

Extremely bold hop aroma. Tropical fruit juice, pineapple, light honey scented malt followed by an earthy and musky dry hopped effect in the end. A very strong, hop-filled nose.

Man o' man is this one juicy!! A full on hop-juice bomb. The earthy and musky aroma that you can smell in a subtle way, becomes the up-front and dominant aspect of the Mosaic hops and light, crispy malt flavor. Light pineapple, earthy herbs, dried golden wheat, subtle honey in the crispy malt is all very impressive. I really enjoy single hop IPA's because it allows you to fully understand and enjoy the nuance's of just that hop strain. This one is surprisingly earthy with tangy and dry leafy tones, ending witj a refreshing, juicy hop thing. Pretty unique.

The mouthfeel is lighy and clean, juicy and refreshing with a slight dry...earthy bite. Super clean!!

Not bad complexity and the hop flavor is to my likeing. A bit mellow in overall impact that has a light and very easy manor.

S - Like others have said it smells like pineapple

T - Nice fruity tastes of pineapple and citrus

F - Little thin but not to the point of being watery

O - Nice sessionable beer, I would call it a Pale Ale but overall it is good

Picked this up as part of a beer blitz, at the Stowe State Liquor store; I was also looking for Lost Galaxy, but no such luck.
I'm not sure why some of the reviewers say what they say, this ale is on the's a single-hopped 100% mosaic, of course it's going to lack some of the complexity of multi-hopped ales. But, I happen to enjoy single-hops, and this one seems right to me. It's like a training beer, to learn to identify mosaic in other beers.
With a nice, clean, dark yellow haze, this one's all about the pineapple. It looks and tastes like a glass of pineapple juice.
With it's 5.5% ABV, it's very crushable, but I prefer to just work it into a line-up of whatever I might be pouring on any given evening.
My only complaint is that I'd prefer to see Lost Nation use 12 oz cans, and put together a mixed 12 pk for those of use who like to mix it up.

Very underwhelming. It's hard to rate this since I've been drinking some crazy east coast beers. Bland and not as explosive as most east coast IPAs I have had. It's missing something.

This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy pale yellow to orange color with a quarter finger’s white foamy sustaining head that dissipated within less than a minute. Lacing moderately roamed around the glass. The smell had a florally sweet to freshly cut grassy to citrus and melon blending in nicely to each other. The taste balanced between the bitter and the sweet with a creamy melon background wonderfully setting aside a creamy sweet aftertaste. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation runs light allowing the harshness to be the bitterness. Overall, as a session IPA, this one definitely works. Its low bitterness helps it to remain crushable.

Pours a murky, milky yellow with a small, fizzy, very quickly dissipating head. No lacing. Bonus points for having one of the most visually appealing cans I've ever seen. Not surprisingly, smells primarily of mosaic hops: lots of grape, blueberry, bubblegum, and a mild tropical fruitiness to round things out. Cracker malts on both the aroma and the flavor, which allows for the mosaic hop character to take center stage. Taste has a decent amount of drying, puckering lemon rind bitterness upfront, followed by the same fruits picked up on in the aroma. The bitterness combined with a watery body make for a subpar mouthfeel. Medium+ carb. Overall, can't say this beer lives up to the hype. Lacks the real pungency of some NEIPAs.

16 oz can dated 3/24/17 (1 month old) Pours a cloudy but bright gold color. half finger bright white pillowy head - very attractive looking beer.

Aroma is also bright with wafts of grapefruit and sweet tropical back notes.

Taste is all hops as this is a thinly malted beer with maybe a touch of sweetness behind it. Hop flavors start off sweeter like tropical fruit but quickly give way to citrus tones before ending with a faint pine note. Just a great flavor profile.

Feel is thin without much malt, which is what this style is about. With the low alcohol (5.5%) there is no burn, only fresh yet light flavor. This is a great summer IPA for sure!

I gotta have some more of this brought down. Wish I was closer.

Poured into a 13 oz Weyerbacher tulip glass canned on 3/7/17. Pours a very hazy bright yellow with a half inch white head that leaves behind webs of lace.

Smell is guava, papaya, herbal hops, pinapple, and grapefruit rind.

Taste follows tropical start to finish guava, passion fruit, pinapple, herbal hops is the only way to describe if you get what I am saying, and a nice shot of grapefruit in the very balanced finish.

Mouthfeel is light and that is fine, moderate carbonation, lush as hell, and as drinkable as any beer ever.

Overall this is another excellent North East IPA, sessionable and so good.

Pint can dated a month ago, so pretty fresh. Pours with a nice white head that settles pretty quickly; a very hazy brown orange color which shows no carbonation bubbles. Smells of clean tropical hops. Taste is juicy tropical hops, with little bitterness. Mouthfeel is bubbly with a clean tangy aftertaste. Overall, this beer is fresh with great aroma and taste of the Mosaic hops. Very drinkable.
