My second attempt at this beer. Definitely malt forward, with hints of biscuit and butterscotch. Overall, I get a plastic ester sensation from this beer, both in smell and taste. This is inexpensive, but it tastes cheap.

Tried on tap at Beer Revolution in Calgary. Arrived in a pint glass, a light bronze amber color with a smattering of white head. Smells sweet and fruity, with an undercurrent of lightly toasted grain. Palate is one-dimensional and underachieving to be honest. Something is missing, perhaps the overall flavor impact is too low. There is a sweetish cornbread malt backdrop buttressing some Cascade hop flavors, gooseberry and generic citrus rind. There is also a white grape or bubble gum type fruitiness like one gets with many lagers ... A tinge of butterscotch, nutty yeast, and the bread crust effect does build a bit as one goes. Tingling carbonation and a nagging bitterness in the finish. Not much in the way of specific citrus or tropical flavors. Mellow and unassuming. I do not hate this but I can think of many superior pale ales.
