Notes:
You know what sunshine makes us think of? Tacos. You know what tacos make us think of? Margaritas. So, we made a tart wheat beer, added kaffir lime leaf, key lime, orange, and pink Himalayan salt. All it's missing is the two hour wait for the Big Star Patio. And tacos.

Pale golden hued with a hazy complexion. There’s a fingernail of off white around three quarters of the rim and half of the top. The aroma is of salt, lime juice, and pale wheat. I’m tasting pale wheat, salt, and then lime juice at the back of the palate. The mouth is dry, crisp, and highly salinic.

16 oz can into a pint glass. Hazy straw color with a small white head that receded to a thin cap. Sour citrus on the nose. Tastes like a mild margarita as others have noted. The salt is what really sticks out and really adds some depth. Title is appropriate - a good pairing for tacos as I rue my failure to get some fish tacos from Big Star on Cinco de Mayo today.

This is fun. It's a Margarita with wheat beer instead of Tequila - with non-optional salt. Not that sour to make me pucker with good amount of saltiness to balance it. Orange is a good touch.

Had on tap. Murky bright yellow with two fingers of white foam. Smells like a margarita with gose wheat and yeast. Tastes like a margarita with gose wheat and yeast with pronounced bright lime and not super sharp yet flavorful salt. Feel is bright, lightly sour and crisp, has more influence from the wheat than anything. Solid but there are cleaner mocktail margarita beers out there, but this one does well to remind you it is BEER for tacos which is appreciated

Slightly hazy pale yellow with thin white head. Nose is classic Gose. Taste is essentially classic, slightly sour, slightly salty and dry. Nothing outstanding or terrible. Middle of road local beer thats a solid example of the style.

Poured from a can. Golden and hazy in color with a white foamy head. Smell you can tell it's a sour with hints of lime. Taste of bread, grass, and lime with salt. Perfect sour, not over done. This would be great for tacos!!

Its the perfect beer for tacos (preferably from Big Star), as advertised, and a go-to hot summer day beer in general. what else do you want?

I liked this one. I t was surprisingly refreshing. It's got a nice taste of lime and a touch of salt that really work well together. The taste is nice and crisp and this would be a great summer beer.

16oz. can into a Brooklyn Brewery snifter.
Pours a fluffy, surprisingly dense white head. Nice looking beer. Good lace. Nose is exactly what you'd expect. Lime, a touch of saltiness, a slight yeastiness, and a nice zest. Simple and enjoyable. Beer opens coriander, wheat, and citrus zest. Lime aroma is very apparent in the middle. Lightly tart, zesty with a slight sweetness for balance. End is a bit of creaminess, more lime, and a yeasty, floral tart and bitterness. Really drinkable. Body is light with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively on the palate and goes down sparkling with a clean aftertaste.
For what this is, a beer to have with tacos, this is near perfection. A great example of the style.

Beer for Tacos from Off Color Brewing. Received 10/8/20 from @nc41 in BIF 12. Reviewed 11/1/20.
Undated 16 oz can. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 45 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 55.2 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), hazy.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), opaque. When held to direct light, translucent.
Head – Large (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), white, medium density, fizzy with short retention, leaving neither head nor cap. Second pour produces an ephemeral partial head.
Lacing – None, as expected.
Aroma – 4 – Begins with light mineral acidity, more like dilute sulfuric rather than an organic acid like lactic - no malt, no yeast. No lime! Some coriander shows up at the end.
Flavor – 4 - Slightly bitter and acidic with a salty aftertaste. Distinctly no lime but hints of coriander on the aftertaste. No malt, no yeast. No alcohol (4.8 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Medium, just short of creamy, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for undated can) Although the lime is AWOL and this tastes nothing like a margarita, it’s still a decent gose – just not what I was expecting.

just an exceptional gose, not over engineered in the least, but very flavorful. also to me mature in some neat way, zesty with the citrus and lime leaf together, and impressively well refined, as is so often the case with off color. i could drink a dozen of these no problem, everything is right about it. its pale straw colored, not clear, but not really hazy either, and its well carbonated and holding a short but stable half inch of white airy head. the nose is gorgeous, i had the lime leaf placed right away, so fresh and fragrant, natural tangy key lime too, a clean lactic souring but only mild in terms of overall acidity, minerals from the salt, floral coriander, even a light dill note, perhaps a trace of light white wine too, very springy and pleasant. the flavor is all of this, a little lemon and orange citrus character along with the lime too, and i can definitely taste the salt and feel its drying tendency on the palate, awesome with the rushing carbonation and the clean tartness this has, not too sour for all day drinking, which i love in this style, it feels almost healthy to me, just awesome! thirst quenching when ice cold, but more complex and easy to savor as it warms some, as good a gose in terms of quality that you are going to find anywhere, and not over flavored at all. we had this with sweet potato and bean tacos and it was truly the perfect pairing. the absolutely have crafted a winner here, and i will be buying more of it!

Pours a hazy dark yellow, half-inch head that recedes completely after ten minutes or so, no retention. Nose is lime, salt, sea water, a bit of sun tan lotion. Tastes like a margarita with a mix of corn chips; alcohol makes its presence known despite the pretty low ABV. Mouthfeel is moderately thick. Preferred this one when still fridge cold, as the bottled-cocktail-flavor came on a bit strong for me after it warmed up.
