The drink poured in a glass has an deep amber in the light but very dark. It has a thick impressive head. The feel is too carbonated for my preference. The after taste is almost burnt. It's 6% with a nice oily slide. I'd prefer if it were a little sweeter to live up to the intriguing aroma and color.
Plumtree is Avery County in the northern mountains near my college. The bottle says "We selected malts that deliver a nutty toasted flavor with hop additions kept in moderation so those malty flavors and aromas shine through. We ferment with natural yeast that provides for a nice smooth finish with just enough residual sweetness that keeps you wanting more. After all, have you ever seen a squirrel stop at just one nut?"

22 oz bottle, recently purchased in NC, served in a Belgian snifter.
Aroma: variable; mostly good but with a occasional, faint off-note.
Flavor: toffee, brown sugar, herbal hops. Bittersweet.
Feel: Smooth, medium+ body with medium carbonation. Very malty; subtle off-notes.
O: poor and unrefined for style. DNF

Pours a deep dark brown with just some copper highlights when held to the light. Head is big thick khaki in color with some good lace left behind.
Aroma is Sweet malts, brown sugar, syrup kind of sweetness dominate. Along with light nut hints and earthy dirt like hops.
Taste is like the nose not as sweet, but definite maple syrup like flavors on toasted malts. Finish is has some nutty hints along with earthy grassy hops to balance out the sweetness.
Mouthfeel is for me medium, but find the carbonation little to peppy, would be smoother with a little less CO2.
Overall a descent brown ale, but not one I would seek out.

Although this brew is very smooth on the palate and decently scented on the nose, the taste is no where comparative to what Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale is.
