Pours dark, just about black, with a slight off white head. Aroma is really strong in the rum department, which dominates. Behind it is the beer offering sime roastiness, sugariness from the oats, and some chocolate. Same situation with the flavor, with the rum taking over and the beer taking second fiddle. A medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Overall, would love to try the regular version of this beer as the base seemed quite nice. Unfortunately though, the barrel was just too strong on this one for me. Not necessarily bad, but not balanced.
