Nice middle of the road IPA. Not over the top or offensive, just a good simple IPA. Had hoped to try to black IPA and the Double, but neither were available on the day I visited.

Had this one while on a work field trip to Golden. Fun brewery with food truck outside. Double IPA wa not on tap, so I settled for this gem. Super tasty and a great start to the night. Served in a short tulip glass. Next up, their black IPA.

i liked this a little less than the red ipa they do, but this is a wonderfully fresh india pale ale, citrusy and zesty without much bitterness. clear golden color, plenty of body visible, and a frothy white head that doesnt subside at all. it smells west coast in nature, resinous and pine forward, but its not abrasive or potently bitter or too much, its just complimentary. flavor too, robust but not one of those bitter hop bombs that kicks your butt. i could happily suck down three or four of these in a session, which is important to me with ipa. nice mouthfeel too, larger body with a creamy feel and a clean finish thanks to jovial carbonation. fruity finish to this tasty and well balanced ipa, a beer i would drink all the time if i lived in golden. not the most interesting beer at the toad, but extremely well done.

Updating my original review as I actually had this on tap at the brewery. Orange color, decent head. Smells slightly hoppy. Has a bitterness that us nice, could be considered a hoppy flavor, not really dank but a decent IPA. It doesn't stand out a whole lot from other IPA's but it's not a bad beer.

It seems to me that this brewery is aiming for solid beers that are not over the top or underwhelming. This here IPA is no different.

Some APAs will be hoppier (Dales for example), and probably maltier. But this one has enough hops to be bitter, and enough malt to carry said hops.
It's light golden color looks really nice. Could use some more sticky foam, but hey, what the hell.

Soft biscuit malt. Some gently pine hops and citrus. At first I was like, "what the fudge, where are all the hops?" But they provide a good bitterness throughout. Probably more of an old school IPA, like Backcountry's current APA, but nothing wrong with that. Easy drinking. Solid
